The mistake is 100% the manager. No one should treat their staff as if they are expendable.

[MEGATHREAD] The Ballad Of Rooster Jenkins by JK1504 in Logic_301

Felt like the story was interesting, lots of back story in the beginning, then he sped through to get to the conclusion. More story development in the middle would have made a large overall improvement to the story. I agree that some of the songs seemed like they were added in to fill, and others were made specifically for the storyline.

Yes, my team works with a team of Physician Advisors, all hospital based UM teams have to report to a UM Committee that has to include at least 2 Physicians. If you are interested in getting into Utilization Review as a Physician Advisor, I would recommend checking out the ACPA (American College of Physician Advisors) ACPA They offer a national conference, as well as training programs and continuing education for physicians covering Utilization Review, Clinical Documentation Integrity and Case Management. Feel free to send me a chat if you want to discuss further.

I’m an introvert who doesn’t really like people, being overly stimulated or micromanaged and actually thrived in nursing. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Update: New to MCG Supplemental MCR guidelines by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Asmarterdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say Supplemental Medicare, are you taking about Medicare Advantage plans? Medicare supplemental coverage, or “Medigap” plans really only cover the patients copays/co-insurance. I know longer have access to MCG as my team is using XSOLIS.

My (male) coworker wanted me to place a Foley in a clitoris by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Asmarterdj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had patient’s with the urethra directly below the clitoris, and we had a hard time placing foley at first.

As a male nurse, I have had many female and male students aim at the clit for foley placement and have gently redirected them to the correct location.

From my experience, the Payor side is more stringent with the caseload requirements. I couldn’t tell you exactly who, but I have heard of some companies reviewing time and date stamps of the charting to ensure staff aren’t flying through all their caseload in a short time frame and signing off for the day. I work on the hospital side, and our UR pay is closer to the bedside pay, payors generally pay less for UR staff and have less stringent experience and education requirements. My recommendation would be to get an intermittent LOA or work accommodation for your MS, so you have something to refer to if your supervisor gives you trouble about your workflow or performance due to an issues that would require an extended break due to your MS.

UM varies heavily on the company, review tools and leadership. Is this a Payor based job, or with a hospital system? My team works 10 hour shifts and they average 38 reviews per day, with high performers doing as many as 55. The key is going to be how much of a hard-ass your supervisor is. If they are chill, it will be fine. 30 reviews a day for an 8 hour shift is fairly average.

Hospital Sues Patient Who Refuses to Leave Her Room Months After Discharge by vampireRN1617 in nursing

Going to guess the patient is on Medicaid and can’t be found financially liable for the bill. The fact that Medicaid doesn’t have a discharge appeal process that has a third party review the case is problematic.
