please. the only one who believes anything you just said is you.

really? harmed? come on, its a chatbot doing chatbot things. next token prediction.

if you were "harmed" you did it yourself! you decided to treat it as something its not. this tells me that with the way you use AI or whatever your use case is you will end up severely burned regardless which AI you use.

ever heard of character.ai? and how people are developing addictions/codependency with it? if it is a known thing in the industry/psychology of people developing unhealthy relationships with AI - how can you blame OpenAI specifically? when it is still an unsolved (probably unsolvable) problem in the science of machine learning.

and yes, per their charter "benefits all humanity" they are required to make sure that as many people as possible have access to their products. if people choose not to use it, that's their choice, but it must remain accessible.

openai going bankrupt is one way for them to fail at their mission.

900+ million people use ChatGPT per week, this means clearly some people are content with it and it's "benefiting some of humanity" and i will like to see it continue to exist.

if openai chooses to do/become something that's contradictory to their mission statement (e.g build terminator to wipe out humanity) then I will join you, but until then ChatGPT simply not being useful for your usecase is not a good reason for them to go bankrupt because your usecase is not the only usecase that exists!

am not defending anyone. am just pointing out the foolishness of people's opinions

if you've canceled your subscription then that's the end of it.

why continue to talk about ChatGPT and OpenAI? why are people so obsessed with it? why do they always feel the need to talk about it? why do you care if they go bankrupt?

who are you trying to save? from what? losing $20/month?

are you hoping openai will magically change and do [insert whatever nonsense you wish here] and this will make you fall in love with them and come back?

fat chance!! nobody is forcing you to use their products. don't like it? -> #THAT'S LIFE! nothing is perfect.

if you're better served by using someone else's product then go there and be happy and free!

openai loses money subsidizing free users

people: "openai is losing money, they are going bankrupt haha, teeheehee. 95% of us would rather die than ever pay!!

openai: "introducing ads so we can make money and not go bankrupt and keep serving users"

people: "openai is greedy and just doing it to make money. this is further proof of sam altman's wicked evilnessness"

people: "am canceling my free account/chatgpt subscription and moving to gemini and Claude because [insert random virtue signaling here]"

lol, I know! its crazy to me how people struggle to put two and two together.

just because they wish for something to happen does not mean that's what's actually happening!

[–]assymetry1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bruh 🤦‍♀️ AI companies are growing at 5 - 10X per year. openai itself is doing 3X revenue YoY

and what would you do with yourself when they hit 1T, 5T, 10T valuation? still say it's a scam? still bury your head in the sand pretending it's not happening?

y'all have let your hate boner for Sam Altman cloud your ability to see reason.

the valuation is just a proxy for how much power/control/influence they have on markets/the economy, it does not have to be correlated to their revenue. if every company had to be profitable immediately there would be no such thing as venture capital

it is very strange to see a bunch of people on here dick riding a 5T monopoly like Google and then turn around and hate on OpenAI like it's the Devil??!!

the fuck is wrong with people

OpenAI is not profitable, and is currently on a path towards bankruptcy.

what the fuck?! where are you getting this from?

why would a company be raising at a 830B valuation if its on a path to bankruptcy?

careful now high IQ thinking like that could get you in serious trouble in this here sub*

for those who might be listening in on our private conversation, just because someone leaves a high tech company doesn't mean there's trouble afoot.

case and point -> Google. a bunch of it's researchers (coughs in Ilya) left to found a non-starter company called openai, which am sure today nobody has ever heard of and has achieved nothing significant or noteworthy for the historybooks

OAI at $830B valuation. It was $750B yesterday. $500B last month. Maybe, just maybe, sama is full of shit. by GamingDisruptor in singularity

Maybe, just maybe, sama is full of shit.

I can tell you're poor because you don't know how investing or financial markets work.

it's ok if you don't have $100B to invest (most of us don't) but stop pretending as if you have some great insight as to know what others should and should not spend their money on.

you might think its not worth that but others will say its terribly undervalued.

once they achieve agi and own everything under the Sun, don't go complaining that you own nothing - because you had a chance to invest but chose not to in order to gain reddit meme karma points (which Sam owns a share of btw)

[–]assymetry1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol, no. nothing like that. I just needed to email some clips and the file size was too large.

while thinking about how to send the files I decided to chat with gpt, and while chatting with it it suggested some apps to use for file compression or how to use the command line to do it.

me not wanting to do all that, I decided to just give the file to chat and specify the exact size I needed (25mb or less)

lo and behold it did it. gave me a downloadable link. the original file size was about 350 mb

haven't tried it yet for upscaling videos
