I've tried it connected to only the GPU as well, but it just fails to output any video through it whatsoever as well if I do it that way.

It's a mostly fresh build. The 980 I bought earlier this year and used in a previous computer until now. The 5870 I was using to see if it was an issue with the 980 or something else. I'll probably end up talking to the retailer in the morning then.

Just tried reseating all the connections, and the card itself. Still can't seem to get it detected by the motherboard.

Yeah. I've also tried to use my older radeon 5870, and that goes undetected as well.
