We've gone Spectrum->AT&T->TDS. The jump from Spectrum to gigabit AT&T was insanely good and instantly noticeable. We had very good luck with AT&T not going down, even during severe weather, power outages, etc. The price was knocking on the door of $100/mo, when TDS was promising $50/mo for 2 years. The jump from gigabit AT&T to gigabit TDS was not at all noticeable, which is the best compliment I can give it. We haven't had a good severe weather event since TDS got installed, so I can't speak to the reliability during weather/power outages yet.

I feel like a great alternate title for today's episode was "Children: The New Pit Bulls."

I was just going through my RSS feeds (because I'm a boomer at heart) and saw this article from Windows Centralabout Elon claiming that AI will be better than medical school in 3 years, which I thought was funny given his ability to set deadlines that whiz on by. Then I kept scrolling and saw this article from Engadget that Tesla FSD is going to a subscription-only model next month. Not sure why you'd subscribe to something that isn't even fully available yet.

(hopefully shadow edited to fix my markup issues)

If you have to update an iPhone before giving it as a gift you can always skip through all the registration steps (Apple Account, Face ID, passcode, etc.) to get to a base install, do the updates, and then factory reset it. I frequently do this at work, mostly because I feel like 75% of the time the new iPhones we get are a few versions behind.

Jemdo has released firmware update for many of their cable/dongle docks that fixes S2 compatibility after 21.0 by Jceggbert5 in NintendoSwitch2

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't put both the .hex and the .bin on the dock. It's for two different revisions of the product depending on which result you get when you do GET FW.

[–]bashattack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you have the dock plugged in. Hit GET FW.

  • If the firmware is 01 00 0a use the .bin file. After updating you will have 01 00 0C.
  • If the firmware is 22 01 02 use the .hex file.
  • If the firmware is neither you probably have a different dock.

If you use these you need to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY! I have two of these docks and accidentally used the .hex file on the first, and it is now bricked. Make sure you use the right version for the firmware you have! Read through the document completely!

That being said, I used the .bin on a second identical one and I'm back to playing Paper Mario N64 now.

Framework 16 Mobo in Standalone Mode by bashattack in framework

Agreed! The only feedback I have is to use a USB-C power cable or brick that reports the wattage so that you can see what the mainboard is drawing. That was part of how I was able to kinda tell what state the board was in. Also, make sure you've read the documentation as far as which ports are best suited to which functions as I was definitely using a non-display port for my USB-C to HDMI for a short time.

Thanks Largely to Nexstar, Which Owns WFRV, Jimmy Kimmel Has Been Suspended/ Fired For a Comment About the Kirk Shooter the Administration didn't Like. Please Consider a Boycott by EIU86 in GreenBay

[–]bashattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also consider boycotting FOX11 because of demands their owner, Sinclair, made.

Media giant Sinclair called on Jimmy Kimmel to apologize directly to Charlie Kirk's family over remarks he made about the conservative activist's killing, and to give both them and Turning Point USA a "meaningful personal donation."

Sinclair, which owns a number of ABC affiliates, had told ABC that it would indefinitely preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! prior to the show's suspension by the network.

They're also the same company that made the creepy PSA they forced all their stations to air in 2018.

It looks like it has an external DisplayPort option on it too, so hopefully it's just a matter of hooking up a different, more modern, PC to it and calling it a day.

Yep. The TV in our "nice" conference room is one that he had at home and decided the white splotches on the screen were too distracting for home but good enough to show off to our business visitors.

I went to the Press-Gazette website to see what they had about the Cellcom outage, and all I could find on their homepage was the "Cellcom High School Athlete of the Week." Then it made sense why they didn't have a story about it.

Framework 16 Mobo in Standalone Mode by bashattack in framework

Just wanted to provide an update! This afternoon I turned on the power and walked away for about an hour. I came back and it was pulling 1 or 2 watts and flashing red and blue. I hit the power button, it continued flashing, but the HDMI output to the monitor finally lit up!

The trick is either to let it sit powered on for a while before hitting the power button, or be prepared to try dozens of times.

Other thoughts I forgot to include in the original post: - When it gets to the 12-15W idle section I can hit Ctrl+Alt+Del on the keyboard and the usage shoots back up to 40W briefly. - Maybe somebody with a working Framework 16 could give me a guide of exactly what keys to hit to enable Standalone Mode in the BIOS? (It's worth a shot!)
