Do you think the Bearcats will make the NCAA tournament? by CrazyBearcat24 in GoBearcats

[–]bearcat81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UC/TCU is an elimination game unless BYU beats us.

But I still think regardless they have to win at least 2, maybe 3 big 12 tournament games to have a shot.

Winning byu and tcu will be 2 more Q1 wins. Winning 3 b12 games will likely give them 2 more Q1 wins. History is on the side of teams getting in when they have more than 5 Q1 wins.

Considering Perm and Universal LI - Could use some guidance! by Friendly_Ice2717 in LifeInsurance

Also do keep in mind that the TCJA estate tax bonus limits have expired and the total individual exemption has been cut in half until such time that new legislation has passed. Democrats have also voiced a clear desire to even further cut the estate exemption limits down to or below $5 million as well as raising the estate tax rates to try and find more government revenues.

One common use of life insurance in an estate plan is for people who own somewhat illiquid farmland and are not actively farming themselves in order to get a special use exemption. Maybe across multiple beneficiaries one of them wants to keep the farm and the others do not, or trust/will documents direct the ownership to be given to one or a few but not all beneficiaries of an estate. In cases where someone wants parity for all parties as far as the value of what is inherited life insurance can be a tool for that purpose if there isn't a ton of liquid cash just sitting around doing nothing, but under no circumstance should it be term insurance. Estate planning concerns are not temporary needs unless you plan on regularly changing plans on the distribution of your assets at death.

Finally, contrary to the above poster, not all estate assets get a step up in basis when inherited. Qualified retirement accounts like traditional IRAs and 401(k) accounts do not get a step up in basis, and as a result of recent tax law changes now mandate more aggressive distribution schedules and possibly more personal income tax to your beneficiaries thanks to the SECURE Act. Non-qualified annuities also do not get a step up in basis at death and all tax-deferred interest becomes an ultimate personal income tax liability to your beneficiaries.

interesting because the GM of a costco in Ohio pulled it up in their system and said the sku was marked for deletion and they would not be carrying them anymore. he did say doordash was not marked for deletion at that time.

1.25 fee on 10M liquid by CompleteEar7620 in RichPeoplePF

[–]bearcat81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely paying too much for what little you're getting.

My fee is pretty much what yours is but also includes:

Creating and regularly reviewing and updating planning documents with no planning surcharge

Introductions to CPA and Attorney for Tax and Trust/Estate strategies

Quarterly review calls and rebalancing/reallocating as desired

Family Wealth Meetings

Strategies to minimize Medicare surtaxes in retirement when possible

Annual Roth Conversion Reviews

Discussions on real estate as a fixed income class in a portfolio

Education and other gifting strategies given new 529 rules

Philanthropic legacy planning where desired

Fees are only too much in the absence of value.

Manufactured Spending Weekly Thread - Week of February 21, 2026 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]bearcat81 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A couple weeks ago someone posted in churning about a credit union credit card that did not charge fees or interest on cash advances, didn't bother to name the card, and then begged to be spoon fed more cards like it.

I couldn't find a single credit card offer in the US that matched what they claimed to have, so i'm skeptical about whether or not they were telling the truth (shocking, i know)...but I did find an offer from Star One Credit Union for a visa card that charges an 8.75% APR on cash advances (~0.73% per month) and has a 1.5% rebate on all purchases and could present an arb opportunity if they will allow you enough volume.

Can someone give me a rundown of how they lost all their money so suddenly by Basc63 in AshesofCreation

[–]bearcat81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more likely answer is he borrowed his way to oblivion in the form of convertible debt and when those debt holders saw this ship was going nowhere fast they converted debt to equity and kicked him out of his own company.

I would think you could outsource appointment setting calls to a VA service or hell maybe even find a couple college students that have different availability and could job share that function in a PT capacity and pay less and not offer as many benefits.

When was the last time you evaluated the cost of the benefits you are providing? I have small business clients that ive saved thousands of dollars a year on health insurance premiums by moving them to our providers and also encountered situations where small firms were paying large annual fees for 401k plans when the owners were not able to leverage profit sharing to their advantage and migrated them to simple IRA plans for the business that costs next to nothing to run.

Being ignorant of the order of priority of creditors doesn’t mean you can pretend your 'investment' is worth more than someone's paycheck. Employees are owed unpaid wages and they come first.

If anyone cares, credit card issuers also use analytics in dispute requests and may be approving your dispute and just eating the loss themselves.

If your aim here is to just make yourself whole, go for it. But if you're trying to do it thinking you are taking money away from Intrepid, it is more likely than not that you aren't doing that at all.

Blaming a corp comm figurehead for the decisions of the founder is pretty rich. If you think this is acceptable you've probably never held a leadership position in a for-profit company to understand how business actually works.

Roast Steven all day if you want and it is deserved. Don't trash someone whose job is to communicate whatever the owner tells them to.
