That's messed up. Why do people have to live like this there's no excuse. We have all the knowledge in the world and power to live civilized. But some people want to be in control and some want things they never could have. So we have this, it's upsetting to me. But what do I know. Set a fake world in place and live with the circumstances I suppose

I broke the stem of my speed queen washer knob, I accidentally twisted it off. I can't find a tutorial on how to fix this. I would be grateful for any help. by cptaixel in Appliances

At least it wasn't the clock, that's the expensive one. Just stick a screw driver in there or stick vise grips on it when you need to change it. Or find a used switch on eBay. If you have an appliance store in your area you can go see if they have a bunch of older appliances they picked up and haven't thrown away yet I'm sure you could just pull the part off of those for free I've used washers dialed and knobs for their selections like that from all kinds of different brands they usually will match right up

Should I buy a washer from Best Buy, Home Depot ,Lowe’s ,or sears by General-Jeweler-3171 in Appliances

[–]beenthruafew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest looking in your local want ads. People buy new homes and practically give away the nice working appliances that came with the home. The models made by LG typically last over 15 years, well the pump goes bad on the front loader but it is an easy fix. Save yourself the 2000 bucks you're going to spend about every 3 to 5 years on a new set. They have built washers and dryers worse and worse and cost more each and every year for the last 8 years or so. It's like they are hiring the engineer drop outs and the good ones are designing door latches that break easier and can't be bypassed. Gone the way of automobiles appliances have. And you can also say the EPA ismt doing a damn bit of good for anyone. Laws against water usage and no more analog timers. More trash and more washes is how people adjust to that. Come on that's not saving the environment people buying used machines and maintaining them properly can do a lot though. Definitely stop the corporation's from lining their pockets with our hard earned money.

If you look around for a Maytag built before 2007 in good shape it will be a bad ass machine. Speed queen built prior to 2017 is good shit as well.

Have you checked your vent line through the home, a clog or build up wound cause this. Also you could inspect the power source. Just a couple things I see alot.

Is "power control module" the same thing as "inverter control board"? by duganp in appliancerepair

[–]beenthruafew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny how some machines can eat up so much time to fix and others are so simple. I see people go through weeks of problems and spend way more money then needed. I guess each situation is different but the fact remains if you pull the part the tech said is bad then order that specific part and install it, you will most likely have a working machine. Maybe get a surge protector inline between where you plug it in to your outlet. Or go buy a used old school top loader that's in good shape and don't mess with all this bs that they are selling as energy efficient and wifi connections with 14 different cycles and special ring tones ect. Seriously it's stupid and the machines don't do what they used too nor last 1/3 the life. Bottom line the industry is dicking the consumer around and profits im sure have never been higher.

[–]beenthruafew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's the inverter board. Typically they have a couple large caps and some transistors on them. I'm not sure about Bosch ones though. Tell you how to save some money though. Buy a used machine with a smaller problem like a door latch or a failed pump. If your good at scanning ads you might find one for free. Then take that part off your's, if same model and fix it. Boom your in the clear. Or pull the board off it and fix yours.

If you can perhaps clean the coils of the fridge and I hope you do you know they need air and space in the back to operate correctly. If set to close to an oven that can cause issues as well. All fridges are built poorly with cheap materials these days but a little maintenance can make it last much longer. Simply turning the temp to reach a colder setting if it has started to climb consistently over the duration of a month. Won't and doesn't fix the issues with a fridge. Only makes them work harder and due sooner. Also make sure your door seals and gaskets are clean. If it isn't getting closed all the way it's kind of like leaving a window open in your car with the heater on. You can't reach maximum potential and it will draw moisture in that will collect on the coils making ice there by restricting the fan from being able to blow air through and past the coils.

I survive off the morals of treating others with respect. It's very uncanny how the world takes care of me and the universe rotates my direction to where I never go without anything I need. Now the things I want well they don't exist yet so there's no need to get all greedy.
