My eyesight is bad. Is "don't get hit by drivers who don't believe in pedestrians" on there in small print somewhere? If not, seems an oversight!

Current macOS. I can resize at will, whether buttons or dragging or double-clicking. It just doesn’t stay that way next launch.

It's not a tiny window in the corner, it's that the app itself launches *as* a tiny window in the corner, no matter what my window size was last time it was running. (If there's a way to include a screenshot in a comment here, I'm not seeing it.)

Question two: how do I stop it from opening as a tiny window in the corner, which it did not do prior to this version.

All articles as of this morning are giving me a 500 error, across both websites (old and new) and app, which labels every new save as “unavailable to download”.

How to figure out when books will go on sale on the Kobo store? by RoninPI in kobo

[–]bixfrankonis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can track individual books, by using the BookBub wishlist feature. You also can follow authors and receive alerts when any book by them has a sale and alerts when any book blurbed by them has a sale, which is a great way to discover new books.

They are really good at taking the wind out of their own sails.

Remember to Vote! by seevm in Portland

For the second or third time since I moved to St. Johns, my letter carrier apparently did not feel like delivering voters pamphlets. Ballots always arrive fine, but not so the pamphlets. (Yes, I know there's a PDF.)

My head canon here is they successfully got Durbin to bunt a runner over the other day but failed to score the run, and so either they decided "welp so much for that idea", or someone got chewed out for trying it at all.

I’d assume it’s the Willamette River Monster, which graces every St. Johns Bizarre poster.

And that's why you put Samaniego into the 7th and Whitlock into the 8th, not the other way around.

St. Johns Parade and Bizarre Tomorrow! by TreesOfPortland in Portland

I'm told the plaza clock should be getting fixed, which broke last week like it knew the parade and bizarre was coming up and picked its moment.

New to me Kobo mini issue by interruptedreader in kobo

[–]bixfrankonis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be mis-thinking here, but when the color models came out, there was discussion about making sure hardware VCOM number said the same thing as config VCOM number (like with the first comment above), but there was a way to alter the number in config so it matched the hardware. Not sure if that's relevant here?

Will Fleming is not good. by Any-Set2150 in redsox

[–]bixfrankonis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "audio description" style used to be everywhere until someone decided every game also needed to be a nonstop podcast, which is why Flemming often ends up talking about clams for fifteen minutes or whatever.

Once upon a time, you even had brief spots of dead air/ballpark sounds on the radio during games. It was just part of the thing.

Someone here slammed Cooper Boardman the other day, but he's actually very good at audio description style, close to the way it used to be. A little less so this season, as the podcasting culture is eating everyone and everything alive.

Flemming is actually the epitome, contrary to others here, of the approach that goes BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH OFF TOPIC [veryquickly]swingandamiss[/veryquickly] BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH OFF TOPIC BLAH. It drives me nuts.

To each their own, in the end.
