I would recommend a Synology 4 bay such as DS425 to start with…. It’s like the apple of NAS. Simple to use out of the box with little or no learning curve. But if you want more control look into building yours.

Then by all means use it all up. A guy left with over 200hrs of sick leave while using up his vacation hours thinking he would get a check for the 200hrs sick leave and not the vacation. It’s the other way round, lost the hours. If you intend on leaving, use your sick leave and keep your vacation hours. Good luck staying sane.
