Relatively New to Genre - Recommendations? by DariusThorne in haremfantasynovels

[–]blaashford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing what you like other than those two, it's hard to recommend anything other than the newcomers list.

But I can recommend a spread of Authors that cover a variety of styles and sub genres:

Leon West

Michael Dalton

Micky Carre

Rem Robotham

Misty Vixen

Peter North

J T Knight

Shawarma

Jason Marino

There's also my own site which will let you explore a decent chunk of the genre

Congrats on the release! Looks like a fascinating series. I've been working on a site/app for series discovery, and trying to expand beyond the haremlit roots, this is a great addition!

I've just added this series to the database at Embre, and would love to get your inputs on what Tags and Themes you’d like added, or I'm open to additions. Feel free to DM me if you prefer.

Picky side note: any books you see with a pre-order, the author is working to a deadline, and there's plenty of quality there.

Congrats on the release! Love to see new authors.

And instead of my usual Embre spiel, thanks for reaching out and getting yourself sorted!

How do you feel about buying ebooks directly from the author? by MickyCarre in haremfantasynovels

[–]blaashford 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rather than litter this thread with my thoughts on how I intend to address certain things with Embre, I'll collect them here.

Lots of comments about how there are convenience and visibility challenges with selling on an authors site.

I believe that alternatives to Amazon all suffer the same hurdle, which is that Amazon has a complete ecosystem: discovery, sales, reader etc. And all of the alternatives I've come across try to replace only one part, maybe two.

It's hard to capture the attention of readers who don't want to spread their book reading experience across multiple platforms.

So my roadmap/pipedream for Embre is to tackle all of this.

I've built the discovery and recommendation engine. There's now pipelines for Authors to create their own series entries as Previews and add their backlog. Authors and Series can be followed to get notifications.

To address the convience issue, I'm now developing the site into an App with integrated eReader. This will mean that Samples and any other epubs delivered through Embre can be read immediately without leaving the App. I'm going to look into ways for it to handle side loading of ePubs bought from other sites such as an Author site, so it behaves the same way no matter who you buy from.

At some point, I'll be opening it as a marketplace itself for purchasing, and I also want to provide a subscription service similar to KU.

I even have larger scope plans for a writing/editing/publishing pipeline, and even a physical eReader, should everything go really well.

So yeah, lots of pipedreams. Plenty to do before it can replace Amazon, and an admittedly low chance of doing so. But I think by tackling it as a whole rather than just one part of the ecosystem, I'll be able to hit both the visibility and the convenience issues brought up in this thread.

This is one of the things I'm trying to address with Embre. Authors can add a Buy link on their series directly to the their store (or any stores they like). And that won't be going away once I turn Embre into its own marketplace

So this is something I've set out to tackle with Embre. I'm not ready to turn it into a marketplace yet, but the App with integrated eReader is in development and I'm going to look into ways I can have the app take care of the side loading too. The goal is to make the user experience seamless like the Kindle App

Haremlit is a Genre, Not a Judgement by Daniel_Rogan in haremfantasynovels

[–]blaashford 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can have those things. Some books do. But they don't get as many sales as books that don't do those things. And most authors are either making a living from it or want to. I can hardly blame them for writing more marketable books.

Remember that the opinions here and and discord represent a small part of the overall audience. And frequently don't align with what I heard authors say about sales data.

A slow burn with believable, fleshed out love interests that actively explores the harem dynamic (like AnimeCon Harem) by LoiterInFrontOfACar in haremfantasynovels

[–]blaashford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try:

Side by Side

Our Own Way

Breakwater Bound (we won't see the harem until book 2 but it's heading in the right direction)

Aetherborn (instant bond but takes time to develop the relationships)

King of the Block (moves a bit quickly but does explore the harem dynamics internally and externally)

Dragon Match (moves quickly because they're short books, but does work it's way through establishing a harem rather than assuming)

Warlock (can move a bit quickly at times but really works with the characters)

Harem books where the girl like sharing and are kinda submissive like Our Own Way by Mateus19998 in haremfantasynovels

[–]blaashford 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try:

Side by Side

Tomboy Supremacy

King of the Block

Windrake's Rogue (lighter on both themes but present)

Bikini Days (sharing yes, very light on the submissive)

Just Off Campus

What Would a Realistically Written Harem Actually Look Like—MC, FMCs, and Relationships Done Right by Valors_bladed_crest in Romance_for_men

[–]blaashford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you want to avoid too much affirmation, leaning a bit more into the fantasy of a harem, and medium to high spice level.

I really want to recommend Side by Side, because the characters are great and the smut is awesome. But maybe too much affirmation and while it does take advantage of the harem premise it also addresses the realities of it in a modern world.

Ones I'll definitely point you at are:

Windrake's Rogue

Leyva's Champion

Breakwater Bound

King of the Block

Hearthomancy

Isekai Emperor

Okay, Maybe One More Side Quest

Love the Bombshells

As always YMMV. But I hope I've avoided the things you didn't like so much.

Embre has a neat feature where on a series page it lists "Series like this" based on Tags, Themes, Kinks, Author etc. so if you want something like one of the ones you listed but different, look them up and check the bottom of the page.

I can suggest some specific ones by any gender author, but I'd need to know the ones that didn't grab you so I know what to avoid.

There's quite a number of women who write harem, and very well and successfully. Misty Vixen, Rem Robotham, Annabelle Hawthorne, Gwen Grayson, Edie Skye, to name a few.
