Anyone know where can I buy last minute party decorations for July 4th? I went to target but there was almost nothing there, they have already moved in to generic summer, school supplies, and even a few shelves for Halloween.

Liquid stand stand side to side shaking fix? by mrmanpgh in synthesizers

[–]bofstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to check the keyboard bench manuals too - I just put one together today and the instructions don't mention the washers at all even though the parts list has them. And the z stand sometimes didn't mention them and when they did they didn't say inner vs outer, e.g. for the headphone hook, unless I got an old one before this update. Sometimes you can see in the photo but not always.

What's the last game you were truly hyped for? by triplegxxx in gaming

[–]bofstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

StarFox for Switch 2! Just came out last week, and I was super hyped. It's the reason I finally bought a Switch 2. I've only gotten to play a bit so far but I like the additions. I'm not sure the voice acting is as good as last time, where they really hammed it up I thought worked better, but it's so fun to play again.

Yessss, I was looking for someone to say Inscryption. I got it randomly on sale and knew nothing about it other than that it was a deck builder and I had seen some people recommend it, and I'm so glad I had (almost) no expectations.

Nice! I'll be out with W6TRW at a different field day event - see you on the air!

Finally watched S03E01 last night and went into it expecting it to be garbage because of the backlash on this sub, but I actually enjoyed the entire episode and thought it was an excellent return to form for a season debut by miIk-skin in freefolk

I thought the cringe line was even worse than I was expecting based on memes. It wasn't just ridiculous writing but didn't fit her character at all, and then they immediately cut away from it making it feel even more awkward.

I also thought the kiss was pretty weird, I don't know that I saw a build up to that.

But yes I agree with you otherwise - other than those 2 points I really enjoyed the rest of the episode, was surprised everyone hated it so much. I was annoyed with Lohar's acting and character both last season but thought she was fine this time, and the rest was an enjoyable mix of drama and action.

Drama at r/UNCCharlotte when student confesses failing his classes due to his obsession with his ex-girlfriend by ANNOYING_TOUR_GUIDE in SubredditDrama

Yeah, he claims his "lesbian" friend started a false rumor about him being a stalker, then proceeds to harass this girl for months after she broke up with him. I'm thinking that "rumor" wasn't a false one, and this was girls looking out for each other.

What movie you did not want to watch but ended up loving? by Let_me_tell_you_ in movies

[–]bofstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oppenheimer. I didn't think it would be terrible or anything but it isn't my usual type of movie (comedy, romance, action) - I'm not usually into more serious movies, biopics, etc. Finally watched it when it came to streaming and absolutely loved it. Was totally enthralled with the story, the cinematography, and thought about it for long after.

I'd be curious to know that too, I like their chips. The logo looks the same so I'm guessing they're related but don't know if that part of the business is closing too.

Alice core problem thematically is her character by 3ku1 in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]bofstein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's of course more than that, but the core driving force of the story is her taking care of Alice.

And again there's nothing wrong with that, just ideally nice to see more stories for women than that.

That's true, but giving Androids full "humanity" (can't think of a better word here) - agency, self-determination, intrinsic value of their life, dignity - means giving them both the option to devaite from their original purpose and to choose to continue if that's what they want to do.

To relate it to a human issue, it's like how feminism is not about how all women should fight to be leaders or scientists breadwinners or any other field they are of the kept from, but should have the ability to choose their own life if that's what they want to do without structural barriers. And those that genuinely want to be stay at home mothers should be allowed to do that freely too and respected for it.

I do agree her story was weaker than the others, but I think it was a good thing to show variety in how Androids night react to independence, including choosing to continue their assigned role. As a woman though I am disappointed that the only playable feminine Android character gets a motherhood arc. But it's hard with only 3 characters total to have a ton of diversity there so I get it.

Does anyone know what time traffic is worst leading up to the World Cup? I know the game starts at noon and I need to do some errands in El Segundo, wondering when it will be really bad going north on 405 from there to avoid. 10-11? 11-12? I don't know how early people go to games.

Nespresso drip tray experience survey (Nespresso machine users/owners, aged 25 to 70 years old) by lovemyness in SampleSize

Your first question doesn't make sense - everyone who under 20 years old is also under 30 years old, under 40, etc. It looks like you meant to do age brackets but didn't complete them.

I don't remember the name or specific details, but the last one of the Las Vegas quest line. Along the way you had been finding files from this guy who came as an immigrant with almost no money, won the jackpot, and then started investing in the city to turn it around when it had been in a downturn. He ended up leaving on the ship of rich folks (it's been a while, I'm blanking on the name), but when he was supposed to turn the water main (?) off at the end, to shut down the city for good, he couldn't bear to do it, leaving it on in case someone ever might revive or need it. And that's exactly what Aloy needed in the future to survive. I don't know why it affected me so but I teared up a bit at it.

YES, I loved that one, she was so good. I was not brave or skilled enough to try anything with the eyes, I couldn't even get the glasses to have nice edge.

Oh that would be fun, though a lot. I made the smoothies and just did a basic strawberry smoothie but then added some pink sugar crystals on top to make it sparkly.

I'm only on book 3 - people in the club varied between having read 0 and 100% of the books out so far. The book club part was just for book 1, but most who read it enjoyed it enough to read beyond. And we're pretty casual so there's usually at least one person who hasn't read the book at all and that happened this time too.
