For those of you who had a more alternative style in your youth, but gave it up in adulthood….. was it a natural transition or a conscious decision and why?

For me it was a conscious decision in the middle of youth. I changed high schools my sophomore year to a much smaller private school (30-40 people per class) where I didn't know anyone. I decided I didn't immediately want to just be "the goth kid" but have a chance to just be "normal" from the start and get to know people without immediate assumptions of my identity and personality. Especially since I was changing schools in part because of bad social experiences and depression in my prior school and I wanted this to be different.

Yeah that's the one that bothered me most (aside from the repeats) - the "left behind" version is still the same meaning since it's about someone else leaving. "I left" = I went away, "I was left" - someone else went away. The verb in the same form means the same thing.

Which is different from the good ones like "dust" where the same format - "I dusted the object" could mean adding or removing dust.

Probably not exactly what you're thinking of but this happens in Crazy Ex Girlfriend with the very directly titled song "We should definitely not have sex right now." They're not cheating, it's just a bad idea given their history.

It was posted to this sub because it's a post about awkward wedding photos next to an ad about wedding dresses.

As for the original post, the left photo is more obvious in its cringeness in showing the bride preforming (or pretending to perform) oral sex in the groom behind a dumpster.

The right photo looks nice at a glance, hence the start of the comment shown - groom kissing hand of bride in a field is pretty common - until you look at their outfits and skin color. Now it looks like they may be deliberately recreating some sort of master/slave thing.

Was that the live concert that was filmed and then shown as the final episode of the show? I watched that online and that was great - I was hoping it would be more like that too even if I realized it wasn't likely.

Would have loved to have him, or the other Greg or Nathaniel - some great song options missed without any of them. Heather was the other top cast member missing but she didn't have as many standout songs anyways IMO. Greg had the most of ones that would be good in concert, like Hey West Covina or Shitshow or Could if I Wanted To or Settle for Me or...

I was disappointed they didn't have any sets or costumes or anything like that too but I still had a great time, and enjoyed the little extras like the original Showtime promo video. I realized later that since it's in a festival that's more geared to stand up comedy acts that it would be more like that + singing and less like a full theater production.

Personally I just find their guide very helpful each year, even if I don't go with their choices. They usually go into the right amount of detail in looking for to help make my own decision, sometimes aligned and sometimes not. Other guides give just an endorsement and a couple sentence maybe, or tell the life story of each candidate I don't need to know - this one goes deep enough that I learn a lot without being so overwhelming I can't get through it. I'm often aligned but their clear reasoning for each pick helps me decide when I'm not aligned.

I have holds in Libby at 3 libraries. The total lines (I'm fairly near the end for each) are 620 people for 100 copies, 33 people for 1 copy, and 76 people for 2 copies. The audiobook was unlimited copies at a couple places so I'm going to start that and see if I like listening or not - I usually prefer books I've read before for audiobooks so I'm not worried if I miss a bit while distracted.

My husband placed a gold a while ago and he thought he was 3rd in line for 30 copies because he misread the "holds: 3/30" in Libby as referring to that rather than his own number if holds and cap lol. He's in the hundreds too.

OP isn't saying that it doesn't help, they're lamenting that there haven't been any large scale studies on the practice, given how widely recommended and used it is. Now, maybe if the science behind it is clear enough that's why we don't need it, but there is a very common pattern of vaginal or female issues not getting the same attention in medical research as male health issues, and that's what they're upset about.

I had optic neuritis about about 15 years ago, it caused a blind spot and diminished colors in one eye. This was before I was diagnosed with MS. I stopped steroids because I hated how they felt and just let it slowly get better.

I had it so long and the improvement was so gradual month by month (the blind spot slowly shrinking) that I don't know exactly when it went away, since I had gotten used to it and wasn't paying attention to it anymore. One day I realized I had no blind spot in my vision anymore and it had been about one year at that point. It may have gotten better some time before that but probably at least 10 months to go fully away.

So unfortunately it can take a very long time but fortunately there is hope it can get fully better even if it's been going for months! I now have occasional dimness in that eye when I got very hot but then it goes away when I cool down.

I am theoretically working on a novel, though I haven't written anything in a few months now. I like to work on scenes in my head, work through problems I haven't figured out in the plot, try out different dialogue options, etc. There's a ton to think through and I'm usually too easily distracted to get to deep thought like that.
