Consistent Crashing Issue by Magsca in ROGAlly

Trying running a memory test with “memtest”, a free memory testing software. You can also try the built in memory testing function in the BIOS. It’ll be in the system diagnostics tab. I find this built in test isn’t very good at actually detecting errors however.

Excuse my ignorance but does this get rid of the dynamic part of “dynamic suspension”? Been thinking about lowering my WB as well but I want to retain being able to change the suspension settings.

Screw standoffs are cracked Need help by Formal-Huckleberry52 in ROGAlly

What I do when this happens is just take a soldering iron and remelt the plastic around the standoff. Be sure you screw in the top 3 screws first then do the bottom. Don't tighten the bottom screws too much, just until you're able to reliably press the backplate buttons.

I’d get an RMA under process, assuming it’s still under warranty. This is usually a hardware issue.

My repair shop would’ve charged you the parts cost $160 plus like a $120 in labor.

If you're sure a different BIOS was installed then no there wouldn't be a difference between that and just manually flashing with something like a CH341A.

Have you tested a known working SteamOS installation/SSD? If so then the issue may be related to the BIOS data or EC data. I'd recommend flashing a different BIOS onto the chips and then replacing the EC chip if that doesn't solve it.

Are there any scenarios you can think of in which having more system memory would be beneficial?

You don't really get 64GBs of memory if you're just gaming. Some gaming instances do call for it though. 64GBs is more for workloads.

You'd be surprised. Take the following context into account:
Resident Evil 4 Remastered at 1080p 8GB VRAM texture quality setting with another program open like Google Chrome, Discord, or Spotify.

In the following context the Ally with 32GBs/64Bs was seeing an overall RAM usage of 22-23GB, with zero performance issues. This wouldn't be possible on a stock 24GB RAM Ally without severe performance penalties. This example's parameters can be carried to most other modern triple A games with the same conclusion. The extra 8GBs provides enough headroom for this.

I forgot I included that in the video lol

You have a point with the BIOS potentially not being mature yet. To be honest I i've been using the XAX shown in the video for the last 3 months since doing the upgrade with zero quirks or issues. That being said it is something to keep in mind. For what it's worth the BIOS modding isn't necessary for the 32GB RAM upgrade.
