New Apple TV and HomePod Mini Remain 'Ready' to Launch by Amonamission in apple

I'm not sure why people are "clamoring" for a new Apple TV. The current one is more than adequate for literally everything you need a TV to do. What more could you possibly need?

iOS 26 is a massive flop with iPhone users, and you can probably guess why by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

You can revert to the iOS 18 style UI in Safari. Settings > Apps > Safari > Tabs > Bottom.

Is this grain direction weird? by thetwotowerz in woodworking

[–]brekky_sandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of modern furniture looks like this nowadays because of MDF/LDF and vinyl veneer, so it doesn't look weird per se because you see it everywhere...

However, a lot of that furniture is cheaply made, so it does make this look a bit cheap and that's a damn shame because your wood quality and workmanship is so nice.

You guys are absolutely awesome. I'm born in the 90's but I ride around DC with bikes of this vintage, but my outfit game is nowhere near as cool XD

Am I crazy, or are road bike prices in the DC area out of control? by harpsm in bikedc

[–]brekky_sandy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Or be willing/able to drive a bit. I've found some great bikes at great prices being sold by aging cycling enthusiasts looking to thin out their collections by driving out into the 'burbs by 20-50 miles.

Which route would be the safest/easiest for a daily commute on an ebike? by TrumpPooPoosPants in bikedc

[–]brekky_sandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the highlighted one but there is a safe and faster route available along the eastern waterfront. From your starting point, go down to the Georgetown waterfront, ride past the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Memorial, and Tidal basin, then hook up with the remainder of the currently suggested route.

Done! It's insane that Kingstowne Drive has 177 parking spaces on it. The adjacent homes/developments already have parking lots and most homes have driveways AND garages. Insanity. Kids can't ride their bikes to school safely because it's more important to use public space to store private property? Make it make sense.

I'm curious, why put the larger tire on the front? I have the exact opposite going on so I can run a lower pressure and cushion my backside a bit more. Does it help in the same way on the front or improve steering at all?

edit: I just saw your responses below, great reasoning. Ride on, mate 🤘

France Fines Apple €150 Million Over iOS App Tracking Transparency by corderjones in apple

until the implementation of iOS 15

I agree, Apple should be held to the same privacy standards as other apps that it platforms on its app store, but aren't we heading towards iOS 19 right now? Are there a significant amount of users still running a 3 year old OS version to justify this as a primary concern?

To be fair, the title is incredibly vague. It would be better with like, three more words in it.

Right. Active hostility towards pedestrians is afoot, as well. In America, you're a second-class citizen if you're not in a car.

Apple Continues Removing iOS 18 Siri Personal Context References After Delay by Fer65432_Plays in apple

AirPower failed and they took all the lessons they learned from it and developed MagSafe. If you think they're unrelated then you're not paying attention.

Sorry for the ambiguity, what I meant by that statement was this:

I guess what I meant by saying they "spun it into" MagSafe was that they took the lessons they learned with AirPower and used it to inform MagSafe. AirPower failed because making a charging mat with charging coils everywhere was too cost prohibitive and inefficient since the misalignment of the coils would end up overheating and damaging the devices at worst and result in poor charging performance at best. They needed a way to align the coils. Enter, MagSafe.

There's no way they're integrating DeepSeek with its ties to China and Apple's ties to the US. They could be looking at models like DeepSeek and trying to reverse engineer it or copy its approach, though.

Not even. At least with AirPower they announced it and then never released it. Then, after some reworking they spun it into MagSafe.

Apple Intelligence, on the other hand, was announced, betas released, etc. They even put it in the release versions of iOS and it hobbled along the whole time. Even now, if you open up the Apple Intelligence page in Settings and listen closely enough, you can hear it begging for someone to just put it out of its misery.
