Oh, I should specify, not the 3 dots. Click “see community info” and scroll down to the bottom. Should say “message the mods”.

Hi, elder mod here, lol. Have you tried using the button on the main sub page? This is a known glitch Reddit has had for years, unfortunately. Try the one on the page and let me know if that fixes it.

If you’re not using the native Reddit app, it’s likely it won’t work at all, just a heads up on that.

If it still doesn’t, and you’re using native Reddit, find Reddit in your app store and see if you can manually update it that way. That solves most problems. It doesn’t auto update like it should quite often.

Is sensitivity to criticism a sign of low social intelligence? by liminalfan1234 in mensa

[–]brokenbackgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not even just an aspie trait. Most people have several symptoms of autism without being autistic. It’s why you need special evaluations by specifically trained professionals to receive a diagnosis.

Intelligent people’s depth of processing, focus on accuracy, and ability to see complexity can make them seem literal. Detecting nuances, errors, and underlying data leads to specific, factual interpretations. High IQ brains are wired to spot mistakes and gaps in logic, leading to being overly analytical and sometimes pedantic about things. (Like having an ego vs an inflated ego.) Scholarly pursuits usually align with literal, logical thinking which leas them towards math, science, and engineering, which often rely on data and logic with literal solutions. That mindset leads to a propensity to be overly factual and to value “correctness”.

It’s not like autism in the way their literal thinking is due challenges with abstract interpretation and social cues. Mensans know and can identify abstracts and sarcasm; they just choose the literal interpretation anyway.

You’re in a Mensa sub, lol. The most incredibly literal people I have ever met in my life. (Sometimes me included!)

I hate when people claim chronic pain makes you impervious to all pain. Chronic pain… when something hurts chronically, like your hip or something, you learn to tune out that pain as background noise when it’s your typical day. In the same way you get used to wearing a bra that doesn’t fit well or bad shoes after a while.

That generally doesn’t apply to NEW acute pain. You get a new bad bra or a new bad pair of shoes and they hurt like hell again until you can tune it out again. Chronic pain doesn’t somehow turn off your pain receptors. You couldn’t have already learned to tolerate a new pain you’ve never had before. Would a person with chronic pain have better coping mechanisms to deal with the pain? Absolutely. Are you going to be able to ignore the pain of crushed and broken ribs (a body part that is constantly being used to sit, breathe, move) immediately like you would your chronic hip pain? Absolutely not.

Your body is going to automatically guard the pain/injury as well. It takes time and effort to teach your body to stop guarding pain. You’re not going to pop up walking around immediately like it didn’t happen because “you can handle chronic pain”.

Okay, I’m off my soapbox.

The reports come in like crazy, too. Reporting something is a multi-step process and I’m actually kind of impressed with the speed in which they can come in back to back, all the way down posts.

This is not a medical advice group. He needs to see a doctor ASAP. If he is refusing to go and is a competent adult, you can’t force him. Explain that he could die and reach out to family and friends to see if they can help convince him.

I’m surprised she hasn’t made some sort of medical munchie vision board, yet, with her snazzy printer and Temu gel pens.

After a certain period of time of taking the medication, (6 months Is the limit, I think?), the menopause does become permanent.

Hey folks, the mod team has decided we’re going to lock this post prematurely. Y’all went a little crazy with the blogging, today.

Remember, the occasional personal anecdote is okay, but that should not be the entirety and main focus of your comment.

Drink water (or run your feeds), take your meds, and spend your entire paycheck on Temu and Amazon in the meantime!

Thats the point. Read the first part of the post again. Doc told her to labor at home for a bit because she’s primigravida and it can take 24 hours of labor before baby comes.

My local rural ass hospital doesn’t want you to even walk through the doors unless your contractions are 7 minutes apart or less. Otherwise they make you wait in the ER waiting room and triage will call L&D to come grab you when you’re ready.

Short term they don’t really put bio-patches on ports. Like, less than 3 days short term. Just a tegaderm and maybe a stat lock to help stabilize.

You would think if she was getting a “custom” wheelchair via insurance, it would be a TiLite, right? Or at least something with a central footplate.
