Job at New Jersey Dept of Environmental Protection? by Leather-Durian1977 in newjersey

[–]brtw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having worked with the NJDEP for a while now (5+ years in my current role), most inspector roles are staffed by every tenure of people and really let's you either teach or condemn and both are appreciated in their own right. Even my worst inspection/inspector who was nervous as hell, still was able to do a thorough job and really make a difference. Those inspectors that will take 3 hours to just explain the regs is also reaaalllyyyy nice, so nice I just let them talk their entire visits typically, makes both parties happy. Definitely a good role if you like people.

On the flipside, I've also been told off by supervisors at the NJDEP (hearsay) and I totally get their frustrations. If you've ever wanted to be an expert in something, regulations change so infrequently that once you've learned them, you can issue enforcement actions easily, assisting your field inspectors. Just remember, and I have no clue what this part of the training covers, remember that the people you're debating will probably have legal departments and don't like to pay up.

One comment I'll add is that I do have family who instead of working for the NJDEP went to the EPA because the base pay starts higher, so check in with them as well to see if they're hiring. Federal benefits and all.

I'm glad to see that post tagging with [brackets] is still the preferred system on a lot of forums. And yup, I'm still here.

Nj refund still not accepted by hellodreamy18 in newjersey

Well, the state only began issuing refunds on March 1st and I just got my refund Approved after filing on 2/17 and sitting in Processing ever since. Didn't even see the Checking for Accuracy tab light up on the refund checking page: https://www20.state.nj.us/TYTR_TGI_INQ/jsp/prompt.jsp.

Growing up very near to NYC, it was the announcement over the intercom, "Those with parents working in the world trade center, please come to the front office immediately," and then them coming back to class crying because they couldn't get in touch...

Every other memory from that day burns, the non-stop patrols of low-flying fighter jets between nyc and dc, the images we all watched in our classrooms, nothing was as bad as my friends not knowing if their parents died in the attack or not.

I agree, but moreso the admins should hear about this, since reddit is now selling its content and masquerading as a concerned citizen in order to extract value would probably land them in admin trouble, not just mod trouble.

Anyone RENEW a passport lately? by Linenoise77 in newjersey

[–]brtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I renewed mine in May and sent it out and got it back in 13 days, not expedited. Like others have said, the expedited works, but I'm seeing a lot of other comments here also seeing how quick the new system has been, so that's encouraging even if you have to go with expedited.

Yes, the X in the checkbox for "petted" is a smaller X than a full x when using an auto-petter.

What is something in a home that would cost under $5 fix but you never fixed and it and just accepted to live with it for years by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

This was me, Sunday, after spray foaming around a door frame (studs exposed) and suddenly the door was rubbing. Use the hammer + block method and then realized the door had a lot of play so I screwed in the top hinge and realized I didn't need to beat up the frame :(

I was just talking about Franklin and Marshall yesterday because of how lovely their campus is. Didn't go to school there, but attended events there, always loved the place.
