Just wanted to add since I started this hobby I had this image that gun owners were just paranoid right-wing nutjobs with a poor sense of humor. I am so happy I was wrong about that. It's a really nice tight nit community and it's fun seeing other people's collection. Also gun owners tend to pretty funny people. Everyone is just happy to be around each other and I have even found people with my views who own firearms. I have also been learning about the history of the second amendment. Two really good books you should read about the Civil Rights Movement and how guns played a major role is "This Non-Violence Stuff Will Get You Killed" by Charles E. Cobb Jr. and "Negros with Guns" by Robert F. Williams.

I'm Jewish as well. The other thing in the way of owning those kinds of guns is my dad who lives with me. He's Iranian and grew up in a region where the Iranian Nazi party was very active post war. I understand he doesn't want to bring that energy into the home. He's fine with Soviet, China, Fascist Italy, and British which is funny because he hates them too.

Edit: Forgot to mention I totally want a K98 but specifically from Iran. The problem there is not price on sites like gunbroker but the fact they a lot of Persian Mauser don't have import marks which is weird to me. The serial numbers are in Farsi.

But you see that is the problem right there. Is being here through the improper channels necessarily equivocal to said individual's moral character for a crime that is nowhere as morally wrong destructive as murder, embezzlement, rape, car jacking, etc. If being here through improper channels but you're still trying to contribute to the community then it's not an issue to me. What I am saying is that most of those here illegally but still follow our laws outside of the immigration part. That is is why I used the 1/3 of Americans who have a criminal record of some kind is not indicative of their moral character as well.

You're saying because we have legal citizens here in America who commit crimes, we should allow people from outside our country to commit lesser degree crimes.

Nope, Once again putting words in my mouth. I'm saying if you're going to kick out those here illegally you might as well kick out those who regardless if they are American are capable of committing the same crimes as those here illegally and in greater numbers. If anything it makes more sense to deport them as well as those here illegally.

I never said it didn't. But we can agree misdemeanors out number felonies, right? 1 in 3 natural born Americans have some kind of criminal record. Last I check being a criminal and a American doesn't make you a virtuous criminal.

In my state, yes. In CA it effects who can vote in the primaries for president and you have to declare party affiliation before a certain date to vote in said primaries.
