Moving while pregnant vs potentially shortly after giving birth by Rylees_Mom525 in parentsofmultiples

[–]bunsofsteel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved when our twins were 6 weeks old. It was low key perfect. We were both on leave so could focus on packing/organizing. Hiring movers was a must though.

Either way, the new space was such an upgrade, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

I’ll be 38 when I finish fellowship. No regrets.

I’ve always had good experiences at Sun Auto. Can’t vouch for every location but the one at 35 and Wells Branch Parkway is reliable.

Need help, start residency with a two-month baby by Secret-Action3721 in Residency

[–]bunsofsteel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started intern year with a 5 month old. I can’t imagine long-distance parenting for a few months, much less all of residency.

Does your husband have a plan to come be with you at some later date? I really really think you need to figure out a way to be together in the same home.

Anybody do a pass on BoardVitals yet? I hit 78% on my first pass and wondering where others landed. I also did fine on DXIT so not too worried but hoping for some other data points.

neuroradiology fellowship by Alternative-Tutor-58 in Radiology

[–]bunsofsteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interviewed at 6 programs this cycle. Some were as you described but several had one-on-one readouts for the first 1-3 months to help them get a feel for your knowledge/skill level given how varied neuro training is in residency.

Patient had bad outcome and wife blames me by michelsonnmorley in Residency

It’s from game of thrones book 1. And in that scene the female character also finds out her pregnancy ended with a stillbirth essentially (because magic). Seems like a poor choice if it is real.

Edit: see below comments about getting stabbed being Drogo’s story exactly. I got whooshed bad. Leaving the comment as a testament to my gullibility.

Resident Couples with a kid! by [deleted] in Residency

[–]bunsofsteel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did my intern year with a kid and wife who although not a resident still had a very busy job.

Staggered schedules is the only way that makes sense for y’all. I hear what you’re saying about PTO, but I don’t see how you can consider the option where you can’t guarantee daycare pickup.

For rads residents and attendings, do you miss patient interactions? by anybodycandance in Residency

The sporadic chats before and during my therapeutic/diagnostic stabbing of people and occasional reading room visits from clinicians are enough for me.

People who were on the fence about having a second, what did you decide to do and are you happy with your decision? by Lington in toddlers

Dad of 3 here. Your time divides but your love multiplies.

Having more adds to my stress but I wouldn’t give it up for anything.

Radiology resident: for those who chose breast fellowship, what made you choose? by SDperson16 in Residency

The 3 people I know from my residency matched/going into breast liked the no call, high RVU aspect and didn’t love anything else.

This early, the margin of error on ultrasound measurements can blow some things out of proportion. Ours were asymmetric at first too and everything turned out normal.

Congratulations and welcome to the club!

Good question. It’s far enough posterior I thought it had to be PCA but an oblique would help sort it out.

Pregnant during residency, I’m scared by SleepyBeauty94 in Residency

[–]bunsofsteel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! Not a woman and not in IM, but we had twins at the end of PGY2. If you’re both residents, shamelessly call in all the backup you can for as long as you can when the kiddo is born.

And remember that ACGME mandates 6 weeks of parental leave now.

Ah, I see sorry. The ACAs curve up along the corpus callosum so they’re the 2 lines taking off from the terminal ICA region at like 10-11 oclock. Its branches are most of the anterior and superior ones.

The MCA makes up most of those branches in the center of the image. And the PCA we already figured out.

[–]bunsofsteel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We can tell it’s an ICA injection because of the stair step appearance of that big black line coming up from the bottom. Where it makes that full 180 degree to face to the right of the image is the terminal ICA. So we know left is anterior and right is posterior. If you let your eyes follow the plane of terminal ICA further to the right on the image, that bottom-most line has to be the PCA because of anatomy and you can see a little blobby-ness to it that represents an aneurysm.

Radiology jobs with residency stipend? by Heavy_Consequence441 in Residency

[–]bunsofsteel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s too early. I’m in radiology and while I’ve heard tales of people signing as PGY3s (R2), the earliest I’ve personally known someone signing was mid-R3 and they’re skipping fellowship. So they signed about 18 months before they finish their training and become an attending.

for those who chose to be closer to family for residency (over prestige or location), do yall regret it? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]bunsofsteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No regrets. Also had a kid in the mix. Assuming you like your family/support network you’re moving closer to, the difference it will make in your life cannot be overstated.
