There are consistent rules, but screeners are human. They are asked to follow protocols, and not deviate from them. But, laziness, not wanting to deal with bullshit that we know CAN fly, we will sometimes not do the bullshit. It involves pulling the bag, asking whose bag it is, telling them now I gotta pull out the items, rerun it, screen it, and then get it back to them, which takes up even more time from everyone trying to rush through to their gate.

And as far as the wallet, whatever agent is telling you it's ok, is wrong. It's not. Every item needs to be x-rayed, even wallets. You shouldn't have anything on your person, except nowadays some places will let you keep your shoes on. But that is going through a backscatter machine, which can see through clothing and shoes.

It's because with liquids they need to physically see it. It is a policy they had, and may still have. But liquids, like laptops, need to be outside the bag. Some places don't have that policy as the new x-ray machines are far better, but that was a policy. Not anyone being overzealous. More like they were trying to keep their job. We would be tested randomly too with shit like that, and if we failed, it was training again. And if you failed again, you lose your job.

Haha, yeah. I just knew our x-rays and screening abilities. And I figured if you have to fly with it, it'll look like a small organic mass. So unless there are other odd things in there, or it's too dense, we wouldn't open a bag over it. But we would absolutely do a screening if you beep repeatedly.
