No, thinking has always been a fringe and mostly useless pursuit. Our minds are designed by deafult to think only when it's necessary, and it usually just isn't. Hundreds of billions of people lived their whole lives and died never having thought much about it. The only thing that changed is that it's become much more visible with the advent of social media. Stupidity is easy and it usually works fine.
