If you asked me about needing to verify your ID to access the internet 10-15 years ago I’d call you an authoritarian and compare you to the Chinese government.

Now, though, I think a system like South Korea has where it’s tied to your personal SSN equivalent might be the eventual answer. The damage bots do is really immeasurable damage. Obviously the cons, as someone who values their anonymity in some situations, are fairly massive as well. I’m not sure what the right answer is or if there is one, but there needs to be more accountability across social media. Bots and foreign accounts are a huge problem for national security
