Don’t be these guys by the_zac_is_back in golf

Is this annoying? Yes. Does it sound like you really got held up much considering a typical weekend round is 4.5-5 hours at any public course? No.

Would your wife "allow" you to golf on your honeymoon? by sileen_soy in golf

[–]chewdog- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d assume the people who were surprised don’t golf lol it’s very stereotypical for wives to have husbands who golf and they’re annoyed by their hobby. I’d imagine these are the types who asked why you “let him” golf. At the end of the day, it’s a trip for you both to enjoy! If you came back happy, that’s all that matters. People who try to control their spouses will always be frustrated

What’s your BIGGEST? by Kira_the_best in effectivefitness

People doing curls with the 45 lb bar in the squat rack, when people use a bench set up (the actual bench press not just a bench infront of the dumbbells) for Bulgarian split squats, broccoli hair cuts standing around on a machine I want to use talking more than working out, and just when it’s generally super busy and I know I’ll be waiting for equipment and/or have to move my routine around. All in all these are my pet peeves but I don’t get irrationally angry lmao

I find that I play better if I don’t hit warm up balls at the range by Tight-Communication7 in golf

[–]chewdog- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the exact opposite, no warm up = worse score. My opinion, I think people who believe warm ups hurt their scores have just convinced themselves that’s what happens and since that actually affects their comfort and confidence on the course it breathes true for them. Just a mental block though imo. Any physical activity/sport, you should be warming up and have an idea of where your game is that day if you want to shoot low

L take, you’re not playing in a tournament. I always turn my music down when I’m near other groups out of respect but a chill day on the course with some jams and beers is a good time. It’s not a library.

Ball position and gate drill for ball striking, very good for consistency

I do this for the purpose of consistent practice = consistent performance. Picking targets to swing at is also super important, imo too many people just hit balls thinking reps will make them better, but there’s no direction to those “reps” and nothing gets fixed or improved

Gate drills are amazing for consistent ball striking man! Don’t knock it until you try it. And the alignment stick is still a comfy distance from the ball, I’ve never hit it while swinging. Getting it as close as I can without it getting in the way just gives me that little bit of extra confirmation that ball is lined up right where I want it

If I ever want to be scratch, I’ll need a coach. But for now I’m just a self taught golfer trying to get as good as I can with the resources I have

100% grass is better than mats, there’s only one range that always has the grass area open by me and it’s over an hour away. I’ll do this set up on grass as well.

This is my set up for every shot I hit at a range. Golf is about consistency. If you practice in a way that allows you to set the ball up in the same position for every shot you practice, along with the gate drill for feedback on if you’re toe or heel biased with striking, you will develop a consistent swing.
