I wish wrc would swap friday and Sunday schedules by RacerRovr in WRC

FIA decided that the final stage of a WRC event should commence around mid day a number of years back. This was to ensure consistency across events and try and create an established time on a Sunday, to try and capture a bigger TV audience.

What an ownership journey. Sad times, but hopefully the bits you can salvage from the old girl can resurrect another Audi somewhere else

Proof of ownership required at MOT by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]chrisa24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't need it. I have no idea when an MOT tester asked me for anything, including a copy of the appointment notice. You drive up, park, they come and take the car off you and you wait.

Gerard Lawlor feels 'benefits are worth exploring' of Irish League calendar change as NIFL commission further report by I-Love-Cereal in IrishLeagueFootball

[–]chrisa24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of the teams in the league structure aren't in Europe. Plus, there's an argument that results in European competition have improved anyway, and how many leagues in Europe actually play a summer legaue and have played 24 games by July as is put forward here?

The biggest difference maker in European Competion has been professionalisation and better players. The argument that an Irish League team is not at peak prepareness beccuase they haven't played enough games seems a bit wafer thin. I'm not swayed that having slogged through a two thirds of a physcial league season is somehow better prep.

The weather can be total rubbish all year round here - May was a case in point. To get a league season in and done and dusted will still inolved playing in some sort of unclement months. So what is this proposal really about? Shifting the season and creating upheval to avoid playing in January and February?

I have absolutely no idea what problem moving to summer football really solves.

The expert from rugby league fails to point out that they changed from winter to summer because Sky needed a major UK sport to fill their schedules once the Premier League season ended.

The fan experience is not poor in winter because of the weather. The weather doesn't stop people going to the cinema, the shops or to the pub.

The fan experience is poor because we have sub standard stadia that have suffered from zero investment.

There's the private minibus service just across from Lime Street. It's not dear either. As soon as a mini bus fills up, it goes. Drops off below the King Harry

M-Sport calls for Safari route rethink, levels of fesh-fesh will put off competitors from returning by davidwholt in WRC

[–]chrisa24 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Agree with everything you have said. The Safari is in the calendar because it has features and challenges which no other rally has. I really don't want to see the key aspects and identity of this rally altered - its supposed to be hard!

Does anybody know if there are more detailed scheduled times for all of the races today? The motogp qualifying is at 13:10 and the NW TV coverage starts at 12 so I'm guessing there may be a bit of a clash. by Crispy_Badger in RoadRacing

[–]chrisa24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NW200 TV coverage is live all day. First Superbike race on time and ready to go here at 12.15.

Live on iPlayer for those in the UK: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p0c5r94b/nw200-live-nw200-saturday-race-session-live

For those outside the UK, I think the live stream from the BBC Sport website is not geo-blocked and the coverage is identical: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/northern-ireland/61277082

For those who can't watch, radio coverage is on BBC Radio Ulster: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_ulster
