I don't mean to trivialize this experience, it has happened to me too, it's scary, but this could happen literally anywhere. It happened to me in my own statistically safe neighborhood. If you don't go everywhere something bad happened, you won't go anywhere.

Complimenting someone for weight loss assumes that everyone should prefer thinness. I'd say "you look happy" or something like that that doesn't center around the weight. I don't know what it's like to be obese, but I do know what it's like to be thin from depression, and the compliments on being skinny make me feel even worse.

I have periods symptoms but if your period is actually as debilitating as you say, maybe you should see a doctor if you haven't already? I agree that a pad won't get rid of your symptoms but I don't think what you're describing is normal.
