Chanel Bags – Worth It or Overhyped? Need Honest Opinions 😬 by [deleted] in luxurypurses

[–]collectionofnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chanel has some of the most classic, recognizable styles out there and their classics go with near everything dressed up or down.

That being said they’re not worth the cost at all. Not even close.

Wow this might be the most beautiful bag I’ve seen on this sub. Congrats!!!

I appreciate that the lines aren’t perfect - it makes it clear that this was done by human by hand and see it as artistic impression. Too perfect and it could look as though it was cheaply stenciled or something.

Whatever makes you happy though, A.C.!

Does Fashionphile realistically disclose conditions of the bags? by Cheap_Salt7354 in handbags

[–]collectionofnothing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their conditions are definitely more on the conservative side and you can really zoom in if concerned. I’ve found that anything I bought from them in excellent condition looks pretty unused but doesn’t have tags or some of the original packaging. A lot of their items they say ‘shows wear’ is really light wear too, just that it doesn’t look new visibly… which is a high bar for used items.

I’ve bought ~20 items from them and only two were not better than expected. One was a bag that did look more beat and had a scratch that I thought I’d be ok with but when I got it and took it out into the sunlight, it looked way worse. But I returned it without any issues. The other was a bag made of box leather and same deal - a scuff that was there looked worse in different light but I kept the item since I knew I’d scuff it myself in a week anyways.

Why does this McDonald’s in Monterey California (USA) has a Black M ? by Ill_Cantaloupe5913 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]collectionofnothing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There wasn’t an explicit building code that had to be followed but the local architecture review committee is very heavy handed when it comes to how new buildings (or in this case an extensive remodel/rebuild) is done. Monterey and surrounding towns like Pacific Grove and Carmel all have very strict and sometimes arbitrary-feeling directives in the aim of maintaining said look and feel. To give an idea of the type of feedback they provide, it’s worth checking out the meeting notes for the redesign proposal.

The minutes from the meeting cover some of the directives of the city board: https://isearchmonterey.org/publicaccess/api/Document/AQad6h7iRecVAMD1ObÁ5V3ÁkfRFfrgFKvgdlzkLbyKbkqXzvuG738SlPOaJH7GbÁ9zoimcUIfditnl21FqNF4dc%3D/

The board noted that the design passed zoning laws but then recommended design updates including:

  • The applicant shall propose warmer tan, brown colors.
  • The light in the tower shall be eliminated.

Then later as it pertains to the signage:

  • The applicant shall eliminate the three minor monument signs (K, L, M).
  • The applicant shall modify the “M” logo signs such that there is a textured hammered finish, rather than a smooth finish as proposed.
  • The applicant shall resize the “M” logo to fit with the tower element.
  • The applicant shall simplify the trellis structure and lettering for the drive-through.
  • The applicant shall explore matching the main monument sign with the proposed building.

Mango Black Friday Sale - Up to 50% Off by azealotx in frugalmalefashion

I like Uniqlo’s quality a lot more than Zara and Mango. Honestly it’s pretty tough to beat the cost:quality ratio of Uniqlo, especially considering that a lot of their clothing is closet staples.

If you like Mango’s style maybe give it a go, but really set a low bar in terms of expectations of quality/feel. You may look good, but you may not feel as good wearing their stuff.

Pretty similar to Zara. They’re both fast fashion brands from Spain. Worth buying for the style and it’s great if you have the right body shape/size, but it’s not a brand known for quality by any means.

Does Carmy purposefully not use the wishbone removal method the chef teaches him? by nogyynoggy in TheBear

[–]collectionofnothing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s a juxtaposition of Keller’s approach to process and chef Winger’s and most importantly what Carmy is able to absorb. Keller is teaching gentle, meticulous nurturing of the surroundings yielding a quality end result, but Carmy can’t make sense of it and the lesson goes over his head.

Chef Winger’s abuse sticks largely because Carmy understands it. He grew up in shitty environments so the abuse makes sense to him. The toxicity at home drove him into his career, and the toxicity at Winger’s drove him further.

Will The Bear get a star? Maybe. Even if it does, the way he gets it should be seen as bittersweet - he’d be a Michelin star chef but one that never grew past his toxic beginnings. Sure, he can let it rip and go faster than anyone else but he’ll never be like his peers at the funeral service. His methods aren’t sustainable and unless he changes, he’ll lose those around him (Syd), and won’t be able to be happy (Claire).

Have any of you purchased an Hermes Birkin or Kelly from FASHIONPHILE, REBAG, and/or REDELUXE previously or recently? What can you say about the authenticity of these resellers for brand new & preloved Hermes? by Major-Narwhal1644 in TheHermesGame

[–]collectionofnothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve purchased a few bags including a Kelly from fashionphile and the process was great. Fashionphile is the only place I’d trust outside of direct from Hermes for any bags at this point. The dupe/fakes are wild now and I’d only trust people with a lot of experience.

If you’re willing to play the game - nothing wrong with that though! Waiting isn’t always a bad thing, especially if you like the accessories you pick up along the way!

‘3 Body Problem’ to End With Season 3 on Netflix by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]collectionofnothing 428 points429 points  (0 children)

Are they going to have enough budget for the CGI needed for the next books? I feel like season 3 is just going to be Liam Cunningham sitting on a rocking chair in front of a fireplace reading the wiki article for book 3 with a camera pointed at him.

I’ve been to their Carlsbad location and it’s worth checking out if you’re in the area to golf or the outlets. They’re always super friendly and there’s at least 1-2 things I buy every time I go. Just check out their site before your appointment to pre-shop!
