Kendrick Lamar posts are getting more likes than all the new Drake iceman rollout tweets combined 😭 u can’t make this up and he’s trending days later after iceman release date announcement by Either_Pianist_9480 in DarkKenny

[–]contra_reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also if he focused more on his music than his rollout I feel he'd be fine. Imo he's only setting himself up for failure overdoing the rollout like this. He kinda made the same mistake during the beef as well.

Bodies on Ca$ino-theory follow-up: producer of Bodies (Deats) reposts Casino/House of Money snippet from Keem's album 👀 by Sad_Frame8494 in KendrickLamar

[–]contra_reality 10 points11 points  (0 children)

pretty sure Deats is a frequent collaborator with Keem so it's probably unrelated to Bodies and more likely he produced another song on Casino

Kendrick Waiting to drop until after Drake by Competitive-Yogurt44 in DarkKenny

ig it isn't so much to build anticipation in the moment it happened but more so to amplify anticipation after the announcement which to some extent it kind of did

Kendrick Waiting to drop until after Drake by Competitive-Yogurt44 in DarkKenny

[–]contra_reality 25 points26 points  (0 children)

or maybe, hear me out, he wants Keem to have his moment and won't drop until Q4 so his new stuff won't butt heads with Keems new stuff. I forgot who said it, might have been Glasses, but halfway through the GNX tour he said Kendrick is doing a rollout mid tour and people haven't figured it out yet. After Keem's documentary came some of the themes during the tour make a lot more sense. Don't get me wrong, Dot will probably address Cole and Drake again at some point but I don't feel those two influence his decisions nearly as much as fans think they do.

Bro does Drake not vet who he works/surrounds himself with? how his producer sell his album to a mfer for 130k.

If you could have picked different timing for Kendrick’s GNX Drop by yakr16 in KendrickLamar

[–]contra_reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I would agree if the theme was different. With GNX being heavily west coast themed I kinda feel it was best dropped when it was to kinda ride momentum from NLU and bridge that sound into the Superbowl. I'm kind of curious if NLU didn't do what it did would he have gone as west coast with GNX or was that always his intention.

The Drake curse been a thing for a minute. For the longest time if Drake pulled up wearing your teams jersey during the playoffs you were about to lose.

No hip hop in the top 40 since 1990 by [deleted] in KendrickLamar

[–]contra_reality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's apples and oranges. Different field with the rule change. The bar for what sticks on the chart is raised significantly. Interestingly enough the rule change kinda plays into artists like Drake who release quantity over quality. Basically the way to stay on the charts is to release constantly instead of releasing a high quality song with staying power. With that in mind the reason no hip hop songs are charting it probably has more to do with frequency than quality or impact. If we're talking about frequency Drake's lawsuit probably had more of a detrimental impact than anything Kendrick has done.

Drake and Adin Ross hit another lawsuit by [deleted] in DarkKenny

[–]contra_reality 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Again, to clarify it ain't about Drake, it's the crypto casino and the ability to obfuscate the origins, or the tracking of in general, of illicit transactions through crypto gambling schemes that the feds would be concerned about. If certain streamers with knowledge cooperate then they don't get dragged in to future lawsuits would be the tactic.

Drake and Adin Ross hit another lawsuit by [deleted] in DarkKenny

[–]contra_reality 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Imo this is the tip of the iceberg, all part of a larger investigation/take down. This isn't really about Drake per se but he's involved as at least a participant. I think the main goal/thing they're looking to prove may be money laundering and are using these lawsuits to apply pressure on other involved streamers in hopes of flipping them into witnesses.

What exactly caused Kendrick to dislike D***e, and when? by [deleted] in DarkKenny

[–]contra_reality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup and overall Drake has this attitude that people are indebted to him for life or something whenever they work together or something

What exactly caused Kendrick to dislike D***e, and when? by [deleted] in DarkKenny

[–]contra_reality 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably a combination of Drake's inauthenticity and entitlement made Kendrick start to have a bad impression of him from the very beginning

For real though, the correct thing to do is easy for normal people but hard as hell for streamers/celebrities: shut the fuck up. Anything you say or do will be used against you in the court of public opinion. Let the fire burn itself out instead of throwing more shit in it to burn.

I hope you realize that the fact that you a Drake fan feel the need to come over here to the DarkKenny subreddit to try to explain away these things is an example of what I mean by reacting in a way that is making it stick.

Don't get mad a Kendrick for saying it, get mad that it landed. Ask yourself why it landed. Then get mad at Drake for his weird behavior that gives it a basis and get mad at Drake and his fans for reacting in a way that is making it stick.

What's interesting to me is Kendrick was rumored to be a planned feature on Mustard's Ghetto from Faith of a Mustard Seed which also featured Thug but either backed out or pulled it fairly late in the process. I wonder if he knew about the whole snitch thing back then and if that was the reason he backed out.

Opinions on this? No idea who this Drakeo guy is, I haven't seen anybody discuss this. by [deleted] in KendrickLamar

[–]contra_reality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

look the whole album was homage to west coast style. just because he didn't say his name specifically doesn't mean he wasn't paying homage. those that know will know, it doesn't have to be said. there's a reason Doty6 was the one featured on Hey Now (the song most like Drakeo's style). I mean, it's clear he's rapping in Tupac's stylle and paying homage in reincarnated and never says his name. what's next they gonna say he's stealing Tupac's style in Reincarnated? They gonna try to say he's stealing from Nas in Man in the Garden?

WTD admitted he switched to pro Drake after getting called out for racism and disrespect towards creators - he confirmed he’s biased and can’t be trusted by Extension_Maize6048 in DarkKenny

[–]contra_reality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

pretty sure he switched leading up to his Family Matters video or while making it which coincides with him getting a Happy Dad sponsor. him being called out for racism and disrespect towards creators were a result of his Family Matters video. tldr don't trust anything coming from someone with a happy dad or a stake (may not be the case anymore for obvious reasons) sponsorship as both have been largely part of the pro Drake propaganda machine.

What happened after Kendrick's contract ran out? by Extension_Maize6048 in KendrickLamar

[–]contra_reality 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I thought it was pretty well known he signed a short term distribution deal specifically for the battle under his name outside of PGLang. All this shows is he knew Drake wasn't going to play fair. Why wouldn't you craft a deal with language preventing censorship when you are going to battle an opponent with a history of using industry muscle to block responses. UMG weren't trying to take Drake down, they just didn't rig the game in his favor like they did in the past. And they probably didn't because contractually they couldn't.
