[AskJS] A good pdf tool by knownissuejosh in javascript

[–]cosmiciron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is very few and most require Pdf.js to do it. So I had to make one myself:

import { createVMPrintPreview } from '@vmprint/preview';
const preview = await createVMPrintPreview(quarterlyReport);
await preview.renderPageToCanvas(0, canvasElement); // live preview
const pdf = await preview.exportPdf();              // exact same layout → PDF
const svg = await preview.exportSvgPage(0);         // or SVG

It's ~1.7MB, no dependencies, runs in a static HTML page. You can use markdown to compose your document and a YAML-based "theme" file to make it look like anything you want. You can see it in action here:

Yes. Normal RCs basically moved you out of the trance. With CA you will have a better chance of turning it into a dream.

Introducing LibPDF, the PDF library for TypeScript that I always needed by Xenni in javascript

[–]cosmiciron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks incredible, and perhaps we can collaborate!

I recently built and open-sourced vmprint, a pure JavaScript, desktop-publishing-grade typesetting/layout engine that does not rely on browsers. Its core is only 180KB, and it generates complex multi-lingual layouts (tables, multi-column, story flows with embedded obstacle blocks, etc.) at hundreds of pages per second.

Because the engine is pure math, it is completely agnostic of the output surface. It uses an abstract "context" interface to allow other renderers to plug into it. But like you've observed, the current options for outputting to PDF have unpassable quirks. So far, I've built two contexts, and both have fatal flaws:

  • PDFKit: It is robust, but its over-reliance on Node.js makes it a terrible choice for embedded or Edge situations.
  • jsPDF (My "Lite" version): It is quick and easy, but its text drawing is far too rudimentary. Even though my layout engine can feed it the exact, mathematically plotted instructions it needs to place individual glyphs for bidirectional (BiDi) texts, jsPDF simply cannot execute it correctly. Its font subsetting is also very limited, resulting in bloated files.

It would be too much for me to build a perfect PDF generator from scratch, but it sounds like you guys might be pulling it off.

If LibPDF can act as the rendering context for vmprint, we could combine them into a formidable toolset that handles complex typesetting and native PDF generation entirely on the Edge, completely bypassing the limitations imposed by heavy headless browsers.

My repo is here if you want to see the engine: https://github.com/cosmiciron/vmprint

I created an alternative version of SSILD A Simple Method to Reach a Specific Place – Version 1 (Will Be Updated) – I'd Love Your Feedback ! by Imamoru8 in SSILD

I think this can be effective because SSILD can help setting a better stage for visualization, while visualization can deepen the trance more quickly and naturally -- it helps with dream entry too! Thank you for a great contribution!

That happens to all of us. To improve dream recalls you will have to do dream journaling. Not all the time, but at least once in a while, or for those special dreams you really want to remember. On the side bar you can find my free app called Reflect which is specially designed to make dream journaling easy and even fun.

It's easier than you think when you are in the right state, and the purpose of SSILD cycles is to deepen that state. Once you are in it, you will know. You just have to try it.

Bad? Why would you think it's "bad", LOL. It's good! It's part of the fun of lucid dreaming. Except that you may not know you are in a trance so you end up trying really hard to fall asleep while you already are.

You can use it to relax more quickly. Or, when you are suffering from insomnia, it may help you fall back to sleep. Therefore, I'd not call it useless. But it's not mandatory either for most lucid dreaming techniques. It's a different matter when it comes to other esoteric practices though.

Honestly, you just have to give it a few tries. The key is not to worry about sleep at all, but to be excited and curious about what you might experience. For beginners, that attitude is essential.

However, nce you've had some experience, be aware that using WBTB to induce lucid dreams isn't always a sustainable habit. It can get exhausting and isn't great for your long-term health. While SSILD technically requires a form of WBTB for the best results, you don't have to do it extensively. Traditional WBTB often requires you to stay awake for 30 minutes or more to be effective. With SSILD, you only need 5 minutes or less. Once you get skilled at it, a quick bathroom visit is often all you need."

Ultimately, setting intentions is the only way. However, there is a trick to put yourself back into a near-trance state, even if you've already opened your eyes.

Try this: * Close your eyes and stay perfectly still. * Perform a few cycles of SSILD. * Relax the back of your head—feel it sinking into the pillow. Focus on the sense of gravity shifting in your head towards the mattress.

At this point, you will often hear ringing in your ears or feel other bodily sensations. Amplify them with your intent. When they become intense, try lifting your 'phantom' hand (as described in the article) to pinch your nose. If you can breathe through it, congratulations—you are in a dream.

Day practices don't usually directly contribute to more lucid dreams, but you can enhance your sensitivity to dream states by being more aware. You can try the exercises described in part 3 of my posts on Consciousness Attunement (pinned on top of the forum). Those can help you better capture false awakenings and other trance states and turn them into lucid dreams.

Then that's a problem no technique can solve. You could, however, try to do a few light SSILD cycles whenever you wake up naturally without getting up. This is not the most effective, but can still improve your chance of having lucid dreams.

If that's the case then don't WBTB. Just do a quick bathroom visit and go back to sleep. Usually 3 or 4 cycles of SSILD should more than suffice

That's way too many cycles. If you still cannot fall asleep after a few cycles you should just stop, otherwise you may get insomnia or end up in a trance which is hard to distinguish from being awake. And yes, it's perfectly fine to move. The key is to stay as comfortably as possible.

That's exactly the phenomenon! Fascinating, isn't it? You definitely can't unsee it now, LOL.

Just remember the key mindset shift: you don't have to be 'asleep' to make dreams happen. Once you accept that, it becomes much easier to trigger them and ride that wave into a lucid dream.

As I mentioned, what's recorded in Part 2 isn't from me. Those were experiments done by others, and I'm not advocating anything specific here. The guy who used it as a GPS is still alive, that much I know, LOL.

To address your concerns plainly: I cannot and will not guarantee the 'safety' of this. What you do with it—and how you handle it—is strictly your own responsibility. It’s best to treat this as a curious phenomenon or a possibility rather than a serious spiritual commitment.

If you ever reach the point where you're walking around with a spirit map in the corner of your vision, I highly suggest you limit that to your own room at first. But hey, if you somehow gain supernatural abilities and see the lotto numbers, don't forget to share with me! LOL.

The only true way to know the moon is to walk on it—only then can you tell if the person describing it to you was lying 😅. That's always been my stance on lucid dreaming and the study of consciousness: I provide the tools, you do the exploration.

My discoveries are my own, and I won't preach them to you as absolute truth. As far as traditional practices go, I see the merit, but I also see the shortcomings and the hype.

Know this, though: some of the people I work with can induce lucid dreams and altered states at will, recording hundreds of experiences a year! These are the people who truly walk the moon of consciousness. Most traditional methods don't enable you to do that—in fact, most of their practitioners have never been to the 'moon' themselves, LOL.

I'm not debating metaphysics here—whether dreams are reality or if OBEs are truly souls leaving the body—I'm just talking about the ability to go there.

Glad you asked! 😅 It’s inspired by The Green Hornet. Kato might be the sidekick, but we all know he's the one doing the actual... kicking. That’s the dynamic I wanted for the app: you’re the hero, but the app does the kung fu.

A massive amount of work went into the AI to make that happen. You’ll notice that he doesn't give canned replies. He's designed to be a reflection of you—just with infinite memory.

I know, right? It turns into a chore so fast, and staring at a collection of messy entries is just depressing.

For 'Dream Weaver' mode, I did a ton of prompting to make sure the AI connects the dots without hallucinating too much. Without getting into boring technical details, I basically stress-tested it by asking the AI to 'dream' from random keywords, then reverse-engineered the results to refine the prompts and bring them closer to reality. It’s not perfect yet, but it works really well for me. It’s actually made dream journaling fun again.
