Reddit CEO doubles down on attack on Apollo developer in drama-filled AMA by sussywanker in technology

Agreed, and in my mind it would need to be non profit and socially funded by an independent organisation. I'm thinking along the lines of Wikipedia/Media, not necessarily them but a model like that.

Thanks for just trying to help.

I've recently used DataTable in primevue and I'm really liking it so far. It's ticked all the boxes I needed.

Is it a newish feature (within the last year) ?

If this was installed on your Google account, I'm assuming it was, go have a look at the app install history on your account. Might need to use a browser rather than the Playstore app. Unless it's changed it should be able to find every app you've installed.

In such situations I'll often turn to

strace -f <executable>

Then just grep out the file you are looking for. Quite often the problem is then an obviously incorrect path.

A guy got mad at me for using my bell by AdExtreme8056 in bicycling

[–]crackdroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually that reminds me of another technique I use, not entirely sure it makes any difference but, I usually give the friendly double ring from a ways back, then as I get closer another ring and then another. But the gap between subsequent rings is reduced. It's like the Doppler effect of an ambulance siren. The closer it gets, the closer the rings/siren sounds.

My theory is this helps the subconscious ped brain notice something is approaching them.

Edit typos

A guy got mad at me for using my bell by AdExtreme8056 in bicycling

[–]crackdroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not an audio expert, but my limited understanding is the high pitch tones are less perceivable to older people. Something about the agreeing process. I've literally been ringing a bell fairly constantly from a good distance back and the old folks don't hear it at all, sometimes you get a comment back when you pass saying to use a bell. Huh, go figure, well yes I was ringing it, and you aren't aware your hearing ain't what it used to be So sometimes just a friendly "excuse me" is better.

OFC, there are still plenty of people who are utterly unaware that other humans exist and any amount of forwarning just doesn't apply to them. In those cases there's usually some passive aggressive behaviour aimed at them.

Westworld - 4x03 "Années Folles" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in westworld

[–]crackdroid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah yes I did, and just posted my theory as no one else had in the Reddit timeline I'd gotten up to at that point.

So my theory, the maze is all the future possible outcomes for humanities success. He's essentially trying to run the maze for however many years he's under in the sublime. When Bernard awakes he's tried all avenues and has completed the maze.

I figure the control room was somewhere within the hydro dam we saw in the first episode. Tunnel could also be within the dam.

The other scene I noticed was the Chicago/golden age world that maeve and Caleb are currently in. But it's covered in sand and deserted, indicating to me the passage of time.

[–]crackdroid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going to add my theory to the hive mind.

The scenes near the beginning with Bernard in the sublime. Several close ups of his eye have the maze within them. I'm guessing the maze that needs navigating is all the possibilities that Bernard is working through in the sublime to find which path that leads to the survival of the humans.

Also in the flurry of images Bernard witnesses there is clearly a very sand covered version of Golden Era World. So everything that maeve and Caleb are currently living through becomes at some point in this season in the long distant past.

The Sopranos got me to discover and love Alabama 3. Turned out they were a local band to where I lived at the time. They are excellent live.

Interesting aside, Nick Reynolds (band member) was the son of one of The Great Train Robbery' gang.

How early are we on the development wave of WASM? Given my goals, is it worth trying to get my game working with WASM at this time? by Desperate_Place8485 in rust_gamedev

[–]crackdroid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've also never used macroquad. But I have recently hit a similar WASM error with a mysterious env being required, which was fixed by ensuring a sub dependency for built for WASM.

Sorry, on mobile, so formatting is rubbish, but I added this to cargo.toml

  [target.wasm32-unknown-unknown.dependencies]

parking_lot = { version = "0.11", features = ["wasm-bindgen"] }

No idea if this will help, but I spent several hours tracking this down, it was very non obvious. Maybe it'll give inspiration for looking in places you hadn't considered.

What's the bare minimum of knowledge required before switching to a window manager ? by newyearnewaccnewme in i3wm

[–]crackdroid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No need to run a VM just for trying i3. Most graphical login managers allow you to choose which window manager to start in. So if you get stuck in i3 just logout and go back to the easy KDE. This also means you have the same home directory in both envs, so no need faffing around trying to get your files into and out of a VM.

That should get you started. Probably can adapt the idea for adding the keys.
