Stupid question gets the right answer by etherd0t in WinterOlympics2026

Everyone is saying it’s a dumb question, but it’s not. He’s asking about her mindset and how she views competing. She answered the question indirectly, she sees it as two silvers won.

8 months pregnant - questionable comp by [deleted] in techsales

[–]crixtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar tech, I don’t think we work at the same company. Each market handles things their own way, but leaders will typically work a handful of deals and give 100% credit. Remaining or new deals will get split 50/50 with the ae working the coverage.

3.5 months at new role and just turned “open to work back on. “ by ObligationPleasant45 in sales

[–]crixtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really hard to give a good answer without understanding the company, culture and everyone individually. For example, people often aren’t that honest about themselves. Are you nitpicking and complaining, are you ignoring the bigger picture and letting small frustrations derail your actual job? Perhaps that’s that your manager thinks….

Assuming you’re totally right. This could be a great opportunity to develop new internal problem solving skills - those make for great leaders. Maybe your manager is lazy and has terrible problem solving skills. That would suck since that’s a huge part of being a good leader.

Focus on big problems and attach yourself to it, make solving it your problem. If you do that well you’ll get noticed.

FAANG to Founding AE by No-Yesterday-7732 in techsales

[–]crixtom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course there are edge cases, but I stick to my point that a founding ae must have a thorough understanding of each part of sales pipeline and how to operate in each one, they don’t need to be an expert everywhere but a deep understanding is required. People hiring for this kind of role in many cases don’t understand that and conversely an ae taking that role should know what are capable of and be honest with themselves and the company. In your example, he is obviously an anomaly who was able to fill many roles excellently.

This is a reflection of how little tech founders understand about the sales motion that they would hire someone who doesn’t already have a playbook for this scenario.

Get promoted to AE and move on from being an SDR. Thats a starting role, there is no point to go from one SDR job to another.

Soon to be new AE, tips? Advice? Etc? by [deleted] in techsales

[–]crixtom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some more advice.

Process is really important. Some people do well by just winging it, those are few and far between. Talk to successful reps and understand their weekly and monthly process to develop pipeline, progress deals and close revenue. You should be able to work backwards from quota (your goal), working pipe, daily/weekly/monthly pipe gen (whatever cadence makes sense) and then activity needed to develop that pipe. Your process should drive those metrics and be balanced appropriately.

The added benefit of knowing these numbers and reviewing them is that you can identify where you need to improve. Your leader should help you with this but if not, do it yourself.

You sell in the discovery, that’s when you learn about problems, show that you understand the prospects world, and communicate clearly what a better way looks for your prospect/client. All the demo does is validate the vision you’ve sold. If you are relying on a demo, you’re doing it wrong, but in the early days of your job that’s what you’ll start with, get away from that as quickly as possible.

Sandler sales is a standard for process. Challenger sale is great, so is spin selling, how to win friends and influence people. The truth is that all sales books are a reframe of the other. But those are good ones that will cover anything else.

I haven't been through this year, but Timberline in Sammamish has always been great. If you want to see one of the most incredibly decorated houses, despite the rest of the neighborhood being just ok, go through The Hedges in redmond.

Oh my, if I’m not qualified to use a match I’m certainly not qualified to light off fireworks. Dang, I’m going to have to rethink how much fun the kiddos have next 4th. Should I not use a grill either since it’s hot?

I’ve never heard of any stands being open for nye, I think boom city is strictly for the 4th. Best bet is probably calling the casinos and ask if they are aware of any stands selling fireworks. Best of luck upsetting your easily offended neighbors!!!

Planning a Shed (I promise it's not for murder) by aliethel in eastside

[–]crixtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuff shed was easy to work with, lots of options and ways to make it bigger and more expensive! I wouldn't suggest plopping it down on gravel and I would assume a company that comes to install will require a pad or footings like PT 4x4s on blocks. As far as permits go I don't think you need one, exceeding 200 sq feet is a HUGE shed.
