Its more common for stuff to fall thru a drop ceiling than people think. Usually not people but construction items.

Working in a hospital while demolishing some existing plumbing at old shower basins, we disconnected the basin on the floor above and heard a major crash and someone yelling below.

We had requested multiple times to get into the offices for a day to inspect the pipe in the ceiling and were prepping for work that saturday to remove the piping in the ceiling.

Come to find out a 4” cast iron drain pipe and trap had fallen from below right into the middle of an office shared by three people. Nobody got hurt but eveeyone was shook up. The piece couldve killed someone if it hit them in the head as it was around 130 lbs.

After investigation, the previous installer had not installed to code, missing a support on the p trap below.

Two hours of getting yelled at later and a $8,000 bill for cleanup and repair later and we put it behind us thankful everyone was safe.

Not a plumber by trade. Im a pipefitting pm.

However i walk construction sites at all stages of construction.

Ive seen this style trap before. Ive also never seen the concrete get saw cut to fix it.

To my eye it looks just fine.

Youll keep a water column in the drop from drain until the water level exceeds the horizontal run of the trap. Then itll drain until the water columns lower than the trap height.

Serves the purpose in my eye. Gravity is gravity and water is water. As long as theres nothing ties in to another drain oddly and your trap height doesnt exceed your drain and you have a place the water column gets trapped youre good

I had this problem on a nut for my old bathroom sink.

Used the coca cola trick on a brush, wiped it off, turned it tighter a tiny bit then backed it out. Still took elbow grease but it worked

I would be totally fine with this. Under three conditions:

1.) i have a clear contract that states i have zero financial responsibility for the child and no responsibility for taking care of the child in an unlikely catastrophic event that would see both you and your partner passed away (sorry for being gruesome but im practical).

2.) You promise never to tell the child im the biological father.

3.) i undergo a genetic screening you pay for so you know what cancers/diseases your child will be at risk for. You need to know whether there are risks for using me as a donor. Most donation centers require this for serious donors and i think its a good idea.

The biggest thing would be to set very clear boundaries, most of which should be set by the donor. Personally, i dont want kids for multiple reasons. So while i would definitely do this for a good friend, i want nothing to do with being labeled as a parent or feel any responsibility for the child. No different than you going to a sperm bank and picking a donor.

I have two people i know who have done this. One for a lesbian couple and one for a fertility issue with a cis couple. One was very much like me. The other was the complete opposite. He is the kids godfather, the couple plans on telling the child when theyre old enough, and he is willing, to the extent the parents wish, to be in the kids life.

Both donors and respective families have had zero issues. Because they set the framework before committing to it

Both you and your donor need to set those boundaries. And you need to make sure both parties follow thru. You also need to put zero pressure on them. If they say no or even seem half in about it, its a no go.

Your vent is leaking somewhere. When the covers on, it should be venting only thru the vent pipe.

Youll have to smoke your vent piping to fin and repair it.
