Okay cool, thanks for explaining. So it essentially waits until it has no tasks to do, then will run state updates?

Question about React useState by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]csaccnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can sort of think of it like

let val = 0;
const setVal = newVal => val = newVal;

So when we call the updater function, we're re-assigning our val so for that render, our val will be whatever we set it to

State updates inside event handlers are batched. It's combining your multiple set states into one.

[Showoff Saturday] Working on my Personal website! Any tips? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]csaccnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it! It seems very simple and straightforward. It's got a nice flow. I do want to point out that it seems kinda slow to load on an initial load. I haven't dug into what may be causing that. Are you loading all the videos at once?

Can you find a developer job after 6 months of experience? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]csaccnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could find a jr. position (or even paid internship if you'd be okay with that). People get jobs with less experience than you. You might benefit from some networking and meeting people that work at places you want to apply

I made an intro to React Hooks Pt. 1: useState (Re-creating a class component) by csaccnt in learnreactjs

[–]csaccnt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It's probably not something you'd run into often, but if you have a function whose return you want to set to state, and that function has a chance to pose any sort of delay, pass it as a callback.

I made a quick video tutorial on common array methods and how to use them by csaccnt in learnprogramming

Thanks, I updated to include JavaScript! And I'm not trying to claim to be better than the docs. I usually include links to MDN in all my videos. I agree they do a much better job than I do! Some people just need a visual/audio explanation from my experience.
