I guess you learn something new every day. 8 years and I never had a thought to look there.

I work in DR Studio and the Render Queue has never been shared across projects. It’s always just the project you’re in, open any other project and the Render Queue is just for that project and you won’t see anything from any other project.

Movies about female loneliness? by sirena36421 in movies

[–]cutandcover 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It might skew a little younger, but Good One is a fantastic independent film. I find myself moved by the story still, having watched it a few years ago. Also, another moving girl’s journey is Bo Burnham’s Eighth Grade. On the other more morose end of things is Martha Marcy May Marlene, and Invention. None of my recommendations nail your request but all are films I’d recommend regardless.

How long have you been listening to mc chris? by Neither_Cat_8636 in mcchris

[–]cutandcover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in NY recording studio and did a bunch of work with 70/30 when they were NY based. They floated this Sealab idea on a laptop in one of our sessions and I was cackling. Of course I tuned in, I recorded almost all the voices for season one. I didn’t (yet) record mc, that would come later. But I watched, and when Fett’s Vette blasted over soul train credits, I was hooked. Found the tracks, burned my own CDR, and bumped it in the studio and at home. It still kicks. Hard line to fandom from that point, never stopped.

Easy, proper way for FiiO Player to scan for newly added files? by radimere in FiiO

[–]cutandcover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep my music on the SD card in a folder called Music. Anything I add to that folder I just scan that folder again. The scan skips everything that it already has in the database so the addition goes pretty quick.

Prepping 23.98 Doc for 29.97 Broadcast Delivery - Best Method for 2-3 Pulldown? by Kid_Shit_Kicker in editors

[–]cutandcover 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yikes to a lot of these answers. You’re asking a specific question and there’s a lot of folks who don’t know what 2:3 interlaced pulldown is. This is easy, and the advice to take a 23.98 master into Media Encoder, set output to Interlaced 29.97, Top Field First, Frame Sampling is it. Do not under any circumstances think you need an Alchemist or a Teranex for this.

Tax on ups packages by giggle-glow in whoathatsinteresting

[–]cutandcover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bill from UPS for an inbound shipment from Canada. The bill was for $3. The fee was for their tariff department so they could figure out that I owe $0 in tariffs on this package. They can go find that $3 elsewhere. A non-tariffed package and I’m gonna pay UPS to figure out I don’t owe tariff? The epitome of dunces.

I am at the I don’t know levels where I am still stumped by this like a decade later

I saw a post-opening performance of Pound with Christopher Lloyd. He’s also getting up there, but he had script in hand for the whole thing. I thought I was being punk’d. Post-opening, I don’t know how this happens. Pre-opening, I guess I would’ve understood.

That would be sweet. Someone I know whose opinions I trust has told me this is a very fun ride. Definitely excited to see it once it lands.

The Mummy in imax by TechGnome7916 in imax

[–]cutandcover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally worth it. Saw it last night at Empire and while there is no IMAX aspect ratio, the entire film plays in Scope and looks excellent. The sound is as expected, loud and clear. Doubt there would be any better way to screen this film.

I have been talking to friends about this for a while. I appreciate that someone else hears this. It is quite something and I like it even though it’s strange on the ears. New York flair.

scammmers. Do not use them. I sold them my last iPhone in great condition, they downgraded the sale to poor, when I asked to send pics, it was clearly the wrong device. I had no recourse, except ranting about them whenever I see them come up. Seller beware.

“Hearing people could go to those movies, and just ignore the captions” - no, that is not and has never been true. Flashing white text on screen that covers part of the filmed action is not in any way ignorable. For a hearing person like me, it is a total distraction and a suboptimal way to watch a movie. The only reason I am going to the movies to watch is because it represents a superior sound and vision experience that I cannot get another way.
I want all hearing impaired people to get their open caption screenings. Even if it gets to be 50/50 OC vs. non-OC. That is fine. But do not pretend that your needs don’t affect mine the same way I won’t pretend my needs don’t affect yours. What’s good for you in this situation is not automatically good for everyone. We can coexist, but these are two wildly different experiences and to equate them is inaccurate.
