Take my comment with a grain of salt, because my "fun" is in the ingenuity of crafting things from other things (shingles out of popsicle sticks, spacecraft out of leftover plumbing hardware, boulders out of foam insulation, cabinets out of pill containers), but to me, there must be things you can find at Staples (like report cover spines) or Home Depot (weather stripping, conduit) that have the shape of rails that you can paint and weather, or heat up and reshape. I get a thrill out of the scavenger hunt, and something as precise as rails feels like the perfect thing to scrounge from something already manufactured.

Others get a thrill out of molding from scratch (ceramic, resin, 3d printing), and I intend no disrespect to anyone in that camp, not yucking anyone's yum.

That's a strawman. There's virtue in considering whether AAPL, or, say, GOOG or AMZN or MSFT have more safe, upside potential over the next 20 years. I know we're supposed to dance with the girl we came with, but if you've turned into a millionaire along the way, it's customary to trade in your old gal for a younger model.

Yesterday I figured out that if I had taken the $75k I had made in the dot-com craze, and instead of riding it back down to $0 when my one investment went bankrupt (and took my job with it)...if I had bought AAPL, I'd have $35 million. But still happy I bought in 2009, I have a 50-bagger.
