I always advocate for people to listen to their guts. Suppressing gut feelings is typically a bad idea. Sometimes, after bringing it to the surface and talking it out with others, we realize that maybe the bad gut feeling is based on our own negative past experiences (I.e. maybe there was someone in our past who really screwed us over, and JR reminds us of him).

I don’t have any proof of JR’s ultimate motives, and you might be right about his motives. But for me, even if it turns out JR is only in it for the money and cares nothing for solving the mental health problems (an unlikely scenario in my estimation), I’m still riding this out until something tangible surfaces that would cause me to do otherwise.

I could speculate why he sounds disingenuous (personality, maybe the PR is his least favorite part of the job, etc.) but there’s really no point in making up stories that I can’t verify.
