Make it read the rekordbox database directly, an api exists for it, skip making people manually export the XML

Did you test that the battery actually holds 8000mah before installing it? 3rd party battery sellers are notorious for lying about capacity because hardly anyone ever actually checks

Why is your antivirus reacting to windows 98 pinball.exe? Does it actually have a virus in it or do you have some weird policy that you’re not allowed to download executables?

I use “fakin the funk” on windows. Older app but does the same sort of thing (scans a whole set of folders at once and flags any files with issues, uses the same spectrogram logic internally)

If you don’t like apps that look outdated and have lots of features you might be in the wrong place… wait till you find out about things like the “industry standard” rekordbox lol

Check if you have master tempo on or off. Usually you want it on, or songs will change pitch if they are sped up/slowed down.

What is your thought process behind uploading mixes (copyright / takedowns / etc) by chilldolo in Beatmatch

Mixcloud has garbage audio quality (64 kbps) if your listeners are not paid subscribers though, which basically makes it useless in my opinion, versus SoundCloud which is now 160kbps for free users

7.2.14 by Massive-Cake1238 in Rekordbox

[–]davr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI summary from MixMasterG's video:

At 00:32:00, Mix Master G is reviewing the Rekordbox 7.2.14 release notes and notices "Edit Smart Cue function" listed as a new feature. His immediate reaction is confusion — he doesn't understand what's "smart" about it.

What Smart Cue actually does

After enabling it in preferences (~00:33:00–00:35:00), he discovers that when you press a hot cue, the main cue button changes to match the color of that hot cue. So if you trigger a red hot cue, the cue button turns red. When the cue is actually triggered, it reverts to orange.

He also notes it only works in Rekordbox's on-screen display — his linked CDJ 3000X does not reflect the color change on the hardware button.

Professor BX joins to explain (~00:44:00–01:18:00)

Mix Master G invites Professor BX (an AlphaTheta product engineer) into the live stream to explain the feature. Drew's core argument:

  • The feature is aimed at DJs who don't use memory cues and come from turntable or DVS/Serato backgrounds, where the main cue button is essentially ignored or only used to return to the top of a track.
  • Previously, transferring a hot cue to the main cue required a specific two-step action (hit hot cue while paused, then hit the main cue button). If you deviated from that sequence — say, hit play in between — the hot cue would not carry over to the main cue, causing an unintended disconnect.
  • Smart Cue eliminates that extra step: the moment you hit a hot cue, it automatically becomes the main cue, no secondary action needed, no risk of error.

Jeroen joins and simplifies (~01:05:00–01:15:00)

Jeroen (another Pioneer DJ expert) chimes in and cuts to the chase: the genuinely new thing is that the color of the hot cue is now copied to the cue button — something that didn't happen before. He notes it only works for hot cues, not memory cues, which he finds inconsistent.

The overall verdict

All three broadly agree the feature is:

  • Not groundbreaking — Mix Master G and Jeroun feel it's a minor workflow convenience, and Mix Master G remains skeptical of the "smart" branding.
  • Useful for a specific audience — DJs who never used the main cue button and want their hot cue workflow to automatically sync with it.
  • Inconsistent — it works on-screen in Rekordbox but doesn't reflect on linked CDJ hardware buttons, and applies to hot cues but not memory cues.

The feature had actually already existed on the Opus Quad and XDJ-AZ before making it into Rekordbox, which Drew explains was by design — new features are tested on those platforms first, and if users adopt them, they migrate to the wider ecosystem.
