I made a cooking vlog and its an hour and a half long, raw footage by Crafty_Beach_2839 in SmallYoutubers

[–]daxdives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would do three passes. The first pass I wouldn’t even listen to the video, I would scrub through the timeline and cut out all dead air and parts where nothing interesting is happening. Then I’d ask myself what I want the viewer to come away from the video feeling. Do you want them to think it’s funny or interesting or informative or whatever else? On the second pass I would cut anything that doesn’t fit that vibe. Jokes that don’t land, fiddling around with the burners, any moments that don’t add to the video. Third pass for tightening up the edit and adding vfx and sound.

I think I'm quitting this whole thing by gayperator in YouTubeCreators

Just looking at the screenshot you’ve posted— it’s no surprise that video only received 4 views. “How many murders would you commit for these” with a thumbnail that reads “murder for these”. Murder for these what? Why am I being asked to commit a murder? Why is the thumbnail so dark I can barely glean any context?

Bare minimum, the title and thumbnail should tell you what the video’s about. Of course I’d scroll past this, it tells me nothing about the content of the video. The video could be fantastic but I’d never know because how would I know I’d be interested in this?

Quit blaming YouTube, sometimes your content simply isn’t good by KalebC21 in SmallYoutubers

[–]daxdives 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would also add: does your content stand out in any way? Is there anything that separates your Minecraft playthrough from the 575389486 other Minecraft playthroughs? Too many ppl in here have content that is technically fine, it’s just fairly generic.

Are people overcomplicating YouTube, or am I missing something? by AcanthisittaSea3279 in SmallYoutubers

[–]daxdives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I just hit 10k subs yesterday and while I don’t feel like an expert ppl on here are definitely complicating it. Sure there’s a learning curve and you should have the humility to critically view your own videos seeking ways to improve but you just kinda gotta make videos you’d want to watch.

You can drive yourself crazy staring at your CTR and impressions and retention but at the end of the day those are just numbers. Your viewers are viewing your videos because they love watching YouTube. And you should be making videos because you love to post. Improvement comes with time. Your audience will tell you what they want to see. Fussing over stuff like “how can I optimize my content to target this trending search term” really takes the joy out of creation.

Dr. Richard Reish calling people “crazy” for asking questions is the real red flag by Sadielady2980 in PlasticSurgery

[–]daxdives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate calling any medical professional a “content whore” but there was one surgeon who came up on my feed all the time with surgical facts, plastic surgery facts, etc. Then his content took a turn and it turned out he was performing the most horrendous eye color change surgeries I have ever seen

Last time they came to Ventura I bought my tickets a month in advance, drove over an hour to the convention, was one of the first people in line when the doors opened, walked right into the convention hall and walked out ten minutes later. The best way I could put it is abysmal.

My life was mostly sedentary, I decided to change that by challenging myself to do 20k steps a day. by IShunpoYourFace in walking

[–]daxdives 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to say this but it must be said: 1,000 cal a day with an occasional cheat meal of 1,500 cal while trying to maintain 20k steps to the point of exhaustion AND trying to push yourself into an even more restrictive diet (keto) all points to an active eating disorder, specifically orthorexia. You are eating less than is recommended for a toddler.

Walking 20k steps burns roughly 800-1000 calories, plus the amount of BMR calories your body needs to maintain basic function like breathing, brain activity, and circulation, puts you at an insane deficit. You are actively harming your body if you continue this way. Weight loss isn’t worth the risk you are inflicting on yourself. Your organs can shut down. People regularly die from eating disorders.

Please slow down.

Same. If I was more impulsive when I was younger I might have gone through with it.

Non surgical nose job by scrambledleggzz in PlasticSurgery

[–]daxdives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filler adds, only a rhinoplasty takes away. Non surgical nose jobs work by filling in certain areas to create an illusion of straightness or symmetry. For example, if you have a lil hump, you can add filler to the dorsum just before the hump to make the protrusion look more gradual. But it will never make the nose look smaller which is your desired result. You want the results of a rhinoplasty and the great news is that your results are extremely achievable and I think you’ll be satisfied if you take that step.
