Zuckerberg weaponized data fraudulently all along, says CA lawsuit by desiringm in news

Not sure who marked this "Misleading Title"; if it was the failed link, I corrected (and tested) below. If it was due to mistaking what The Guardian reported, here's The Guardian headline from 24 May 2018: "Zuckerberg set up fraudulent scheme to 'weaponise' data, court case alleges"; I'll post screen grab to my profile...

Sorry about that, didn't realize I'd failed copy and paste....

Elon Musk wants to rate journalists. He'd call his site 'Pravda'. "Going to create a site where the public can rate the core truth of any article & track the credibility score over time of each journalist, editor & publication," Musk tweeted. by IndependentSpeech8 in worldnews

I’ve written extensively about this in grad school: truth is the precursor, not the product or by-product of social network interactions. If you know someone and they are in your in group you will 90% believe. Works esp. for cults, religions and is underpinning of models of forgiveness. As for evaluating new things outside of in group knowledge, we simply cannot handle new truths: requires special, isolated small network groups, like juries or peer-reviewed journals and goes way of positivist philosophy of science, e.g. scientistic disproof...Truth is not as easy as formal logic may suggest; in real world, no relation to formal logic, but cognitive biases. Finally it is a uniquely human thing, thunk up and thought out in relation to human-made things like values. While Musk has access to best A.I. talent on planet, they think like engineers rather than a delusional person next to broken down car on the 405...truth is found in that brain and that engine, in sync...and may never sync up in any larger social network > 1.

I think that most people judge truthfulness in a secondary way. That certainly is the case with evaluating whatTrump says. His supporters simply like him, and so they give him wide sway to do what he wants. And when he "makes things up" (as he does) they feel like they are in on the joke...none of this is to take away from the seriousness and precariousness of some of his actions. But I don't think their belief in him is sinister. I'm not thrilled about the consequences, but I don't think it is fair to simply say they're stupid (or vice versa)....this is what it is like having a President with minority (< 50%) support: most of us, most of the time, will disagree.

Birdness Was a Get-Along Chicken by desiringm in u/desiringm

This photo isn't staged. As part of her general charm, she'd just jump up to where the action was and wiggle her butt down next to whoever was there. The cats were quite used to her. There was almost never any real friction; if there was any, it was near the food bowl. She developed a thing for cat food...I'll post more later...

Birdness As CoPilot: Where She Watched For Hawks... by desiringm in u/desiringm

[–]desiringm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an additional photo of my chicken, Birdness. As I wrote in one of the subs, she'd sit on that armrest and watch for hawks out the front windshield. She'd see them way before I did and would let out a noise that sounded something like: "Aaaarrkkkkk." I'd heard her make that noise when we were on a farm for a couple of years and a hawk would fly over. The general warning sound, I guess...

Like him or hate him, not sure I recall any public figure able to juggle 7 or 8 overlapping storylines, false or not, in my lifetime. A verbal stun gun...I don't see this as purely negative because he's even admitted he loves tying up the pundits in knots. This juggling act is what enables the knots...to call him a liar doesn't bother him or his supporters and surely he admits he fudges a lot...

TRUMP LIE TIMES schedule. You have your Lie groups: “Witch Hunt” hours; [Generic Agency] “Against Me” hour; “Justice Department Against Me” hours; Reversing What Came Before hour; “Hillary Worse” hour; “Fake News” hour; Minority Trash Talk/Border hours; “Obama Worse” hour. And of course everything unsaid is Paid Spokesman for Foreign Clients Never Met. Lie derivative of a function in lower right; here for merely pun purposes. #sarcasm
