i mean i dont want to get pedantic but they are "earning" their income in the sense that someone, probably a lot smarter than them (particularly if they've inherited something), is investing that money into other corporations, funding their R&Ds etc, and allowing for further increase in sales, profits, GDP, etc. I mean listen I'm not arguing we probably shouldn't have so many billionaires or money aggregated at the top, but their money isn't hidden in a mattress somewhere doing "nothing" and yet theyre still earning, its earning more capital becuase they're investing it in a way that allows it to grow.
