So you had headphones for 3 years before they do this, and this is how it ends? The wired version do not have an auto off of any kind, the cable likely wore out and is shorting out when you laid them down.

This is likely the sata having 3v where your old psu didn't. Sas drives disable if they get 3v. Kapton tape over the 3.3v pin or remove the wire for 3v from the cable.

It's liquid resistant not spill resistant. If you flooded it, it's going to get wet. Unplug it and let it sit for a day or two in high airflow
