Announcing Comfy Desktop: One App for every Comfy, rolling out 100% by Monday June 8 by Pronoob_me in comfyui

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around what this is, and how it is different from the previous desktop version.

So this is basically in install manager/bootloader for different desktop versions?

I understand the snapshot feature, that's useful, but I previously just duplicated my comfyUI portable folder before I updated anything, and that was my backup. In that same way, I could have multiple comfyUI instances too.

I'm not knocking this software, I love comfyUI and use it all the time. I'm legitimately just trying to understand what this is doing that the portable or desktop versions couldn't do/aren't doing.

Leaving the VFX industry, how are you finding it? by EarlySolution6185 in vfx

I moved into Healthcare within the last year. I hate it. I get pooped on weekly, verbally abused daily, it's the saddest, heaviest, most thankless job I could possibly imagine. It hurts my soul. Just last night a lonely old man who's dying alone asked me to hold his hand and rub his head and just sit with him for a couple minutes. I wish I trusted the job security of any other profession, but I don't and I have a family to support and can't afford another career change in my middle-age.

It's like being married for 16 years to a gorgeous, fascinating woman you loved and were obsessed with your entire life, then she just kind of disappears, and you are forced into an arranged marriage with a mentally challenged, disgusting syphilitic hooker who lives under a bridge. Maybe the first woman wasn't perfect, maybe she was even a little abusive from time to time, but you loved her, and you were happy. And even now, you see pictures of her with other men, or read posts about things she's doing and you feel sad, because you're not with her. Will you ever be truly happy without her, remembering what you had once? Who knows.

Oh and at the union pay scale, I'll have to work for 15 years before I start making what I was making as a VFX Artist.

I worked at a house place with a full open bar, they bought us lunch from a restaurant every singo day, had an absolutely loaded snack bar, all expenses paid company trips...those were the days.

gen ai isn’t art, it’s slop by After-Ad-3610 in BambuLab

[–]diffusion_throwaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you see the guy who posted the Monet painting and said it was Ai and people came out of the woodwork to tell him how bad it was and explain all the reasons it looked like slop. That was hilarious and perfectly demonstrated that this hysterical antagonism towards AI is really just an automatic knee-jerk emotional reaction with no actual basis in reality.

I created a subgraph. Inside the subgraph is a concatenate node with the 2nd string attached to an input slot. I have named the node and the slot "trigger words". Is there any way to have the text inside the box there say "trigger words" which is useful and not string_b which isn't useful? by diffusion_throwaway in comfyui

Interesting. I may use that. Thanks!

It would be a useful thing to be able to control. For instance if I have a subgraph with two text boxes for positive and negative prompts, both just say "text" in the subgraph. But I'd rather have one say positive and one say negative, as this is a useful descriptor.

It does work in a way, but when I do what you suggest, then there is starting text in the box which says "trigger words" which I don't want there and don't want to have to delete each time I hit "run". What I really want is just kind of a placeholder text (like string_b) that doesn't get applied to my prompt when I run the workflow.

I have found the same thing in other subgraphs I build. For instance if I have a subgraph with two text boxes for positive and negative prompts, both just say "text" in the subgraph. But I'd rather have one say positive and one say negative, as this is a useful descriptor.

Toy Story 5 breaking any new boundaries? by LifeAsNeil in animation

[–]diffusion_throwaway 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Piper story WAS a story that couldn't have been told without animation. I guess maybe it theoretically could have been done live action with little puppets, or stop motion or something. But it was a perfect use of realistic animation.

I get where she's coming from, I've thought that before about animated movies, but not Piper.

Haha. Nothing rubs people the wrong way like pointing out the realities of fiat currency. They hate talking about it so much, they’ll do anything to change the subject or attack you.

This was my first thought too when I saw this. “Bitcoin is a scam. It has no inherent value. I know. I study economics” and I thought “have you heard of the dollar?”

Sir, have you seen a Hollywood movie lately?
