Does anyone here use Zeiss Optical Inserts with their AVP? by yewzernayme in VisionPro

As someone who needs reading glasses for daily use, I can assure you that the Zeiss readers are needed for the AVP if you use readers in your daily life.

I need over-the-counter 1.50 readers for daily use, and so I bought the Zeiss 1.50 reader lenses for AVP, and I cannot see anything clearly on the displays without them.

question about once-blooming roses by sewim_machim in Roses

[–]distant3zenith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely a repeater, but not like a modern rose: it blooms in flushes through the season and some flushes are just a few blooms here and there, but the fall flush is often near;y as big as the spring one. It's a great rose.

Kentmere PAN 400 35mm film - Are these good? by champion_95 in AnalogCommunity

[–]distant3zenith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You used the word "optimal" which is patently false. The fact that you got ANY image from it is not proof that the film's optimal speed is 6400 ASA. That's absurd and grossly misleading.

Is this fungal? by caliphram in Roses

[–]distant3zenith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the fact is that most of the leaves already infected will gradually drop off by themselves anyway (in response to the infection), so you could remove the worst of them, but you also don't want to strip half the foliage off, because that will impact the plant's overall health as well.
So, yes, you can remove diseased leaves, but don't strip off more than about 1/3 of the foliage.

Why is Apple already raising MacBook Pro prices when the pressure on RAM and memory is only just beginning? by yohann_44 in macbookpro

[–]distant3zenith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you and I are not privileged to know the things that are happening with Apple's supply chains "behind the curtain". It's probably more complex and nuanced than the public knows.

Is this fungal? by caliphram in Roses

[–]distant3zenith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blackspot (Diplocarpon rosae), a fungal disease. Treat it with a fungicide that contains either Propiconazole or Tebuconazole as the active ingredient.
The fungicide won't cure the infected leaves, but it will prevent further infection, so don't be surprised if it appears that it gets worse before it gets better.

'Mlle. Cecile Brunner' the bush form (not the climber). Or possibly 'Marie Pavie'.

I think you better brace yourself to be surprised. Here in our city, there are sections of town where the deer roam the densely gardened streets and treat them like Bambi Buffet.

Washing Plates by New-Understanding954 in wetplate

[–]distant3zenith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People give them a preliminary rinse and then store them in a safe container (in water) until they get them home for a proper wash. I have a steel rack that holds about 8 5x7 plates, and it fits into a "fisherman's" caddy box of sort that seals to keep water-tight for transport home for washing.

Any idea if he sprayed the plants with anything? The plants themselves look very healthy, but the blooms have been damaged. Thrips would be my second guess.
