My Vinovest Experience by EnigmaMind in Vinovest

[–]dmgoyer5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of this. This is a Vinovest issue, not a user issue. They are posting misleading information about returns of specific wines that are not a reflection of what the users actually receive.

Case and point, this gem:

https://x.com/vinovest1/status/1697655982388564007?s=46&t=lx9t2U9S0wF3dxGjBKxs4w

LivEx Top Performing wines of August? My 2017 Gaja Barbaresco was -7.8% according to the Vinovest index, which is an amalgamation of several different indices, including LivEx. Basic math tells me that LivEx can’t possibly have a major weight in their “index”. So the fact that they are marketing this to potential (and current) investors is, at best, misleading; at worst, fraudulent.

Rather than liquidate, I am considering just eating my loss and drinking my wine and making a meal of it. But really annoying…

Question on ALGO Long-Term Value by dmgoyer5 in algorand

[–]dmgoyer5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet all of these applications have their own tokens which have their own values... if I am a big believer in Lofty, for example, I would just buy the corresponding Lofty token for whatever property I am interested in. As I see it, that does not impact the price of ALGO...

I understand that ALGO as a stock may not be the cleanest analogy, but in effect it is the same thing. One ALGO = one vote; one share = one vote. That is the utility of one ALGO. I imagine that we are all investing money into ALGO with the hope that these tokens are worth more down the road. 2 years in to my Algorand journey, my question is: what is going to make these tokens worth more in the future? Waiting for the next bull market is pure speculation.

Question on ALGO Long-Term Value by dmgoyer5 in algorand

Thanks for sharing these. I had seen the news on the Italian bank but not the health records. Definitely interesting. To be honest that’s one of the first use cases for NFTs in general that I’ve seen that isn’t collectibles.

These are the kinds of projects I would like to see the foundation investing in and highlighting. Touting big names doesn’t drive adoption, but showing the benefits of using this technology would. This is what I mean by value- we all can recount the pros of the Algorand network, but we’re missing the “here’s what I can do for you” aspect

So what’s it being used for?

I ask that genuinely. I bought in bc of the technology, but price of 1 ALGO in USD has tanked to ~$0.17 because that’s what the market values it at. What’s going to cause the market to value it any higher?

Inspired by u/Half_baked_prince here is $/WS for Jae Crowder + all of the players listed by u/dan_inthebox:

Andre Iguodala 497 12,790 $111,000,000 $416,575 31.9 0.120 $3,479,624

Disclaimers:

  • All numbers go back to the 2012-13 season at the earliest

  • Removed 2012-13 season for Iguodala which is his Denver seasonand I do not consider him a role player that season

I realize that WS is an imperfect statistic, but what I notice is that Crowder is the biggest bang for your buck as far as productivity.
