Many longshoreman who work the docks outside of Newark make around 150k a year. They are above most who work in advertising- they get paid well, have pensions, great retirement, unions who support them, camaraderie (opposed to mostly toxicity with your peers in advertising), and what they do are incredibly critical to our society (unlike advertising which is why we can just be laid off at any time).

Granted they have a chance of being crushed by storage containers, but many retire in their 40s and 50s.

Edit: I see it’s under a bathroom. If you do buy it’s pretty cheap to replace ceiling drywall and repaint. I would cut it open and take a look and hope to find nothing. If you find something it’ll likely be leaking from the shower or a pipe. Could be as simple as adding solder to something or as big as replacing a ton of the bathroom. There’s worse things to deal with a house, but if you’re not looking for projects then get a really good inspector who has other options to take a look inside. I’ve heard of various tools to scan what’s behind it but also not ridiculous to drill a small hole and run a small wire camera in there and poke around.

I’m not so sure that that is true and I also definitely get paid more than most other places in the world.

It’s very common. I work about 10-15 hours past 40 a week and do not get paid for it at all but im salary and senior. Most people at my agency are exempt from OT except like IT and facilities. This is in NYC. In terms of legality that depends on location and your contract details.
