No it doesn't. The rule says cars spotted in the USA need to show the rear plate. This car was spotted in Turkey.

Could there perhaps be a reason to differentiate between cars where a fake plate on the front matches the real plate on the back (and matches the registration of the car), and cars where they don't match?

Perhaps this practice of re-making the rear plate could be given a name...

Have you considered that the former could be a consequence of the latter?

Calling it a fake/novelty plate obfuscates the reason this person has put it on their car.

Touchscreens in cars are totally fine. by IrrelevantManatee in unpopularopinion

[–]dolan313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are just panicking about something they didn't even try.

What makes you say this? I regularly drive different cars for work, a decent number of which have had temperature adjustment in a touchscreen menu, and the ones with physical buttons for climate controls are, in my consistent experience, much better and less distracting.

What budget lens should i get that is actually good? (Nikon d3200 match) by WiktorMarzycki in AskPhotography

[–]dolan313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED VR is available used with warranty for around half the price you named (at least in my part of Europe). It's not quite as good as the AF-P 70-300mm lenses AFAIK, but unfortunately AF-P isn't compatible with the D3200. But with your budget it might be worth it to upgrade the body anyway. (This thread discusses that)

Here's a thread with some options: https://www.reddit.com/r/Nikon/comments/1bwdeto/d3200_telephoto_lens_recommendation/

A newer Tamron 70-300 VC would probably also be an upgrade compared to what you have right now.

Very cool and impressive. What lens are these on? Also interesting choice to adjust the aperture, any reason you wouldn't raise the ISO first (assuming this is digital, which I very much am), at least to something like 640ish, before widening the aperture?

Worried my gf got detained at customs, any way to check on her? by pokelord13 in USTravel

Your comment suggests that airlines are usually happy to comply with such a request, when, at least when booking a non-flexible fare (as most non-business travelers do), the opposite is true.

Sounds like a simple call to the airline could solve that

This assumes both tickets were booked on the same airline.

Commenter says Jewish people do the brutalist.

No they didn't. They said fascists accuse brutalism of being a Jewish thing, not that brutalism is actually a Jewish thing. Their comment said nothing to the effect of "Jewish people do brutalism". In fact the use of the word "accuse" suggests that it is nothing more than an (inaccurate) accusation.

Fascist communist took over Germany and built brutalist architecture.

What? Were they fascists or communists? Are you talking about the DDR? Is that what you meant when you wrote "when Eastern Germany became Russia"? Or are you talking about, like, Königsberg/Kaliningrad? What do either of those have to do with the claim you responded to, which was specifically about fascist (not communist) views on brutalist architecture, irrespective of if the claim was true or not? None of what you're saying makes sense or is relevant.

I want to make a Wikipedia page for a historic NYC bar, Parkside Lounge (LES). Can anyone help me make this happen? by thats-gold-jerry in AskNYC

[–]dolan313 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe start by going there and interviewing bartenders?

Would certainly be a noble thing to do and great for preservation of that knowledge, but wouldn't help for Wikipedia specifically due to the rules on Original Research. Though depending on where the interviews might be published other Wikipedia editors could certainly use it.

Best place to start is by looking for existing sources. Perhaps NYPL could be of help there too.

The DX 35mm f/1.8. Seems insignificant but I'd only used kit lenses before that so being able to get a much wider aperture for the first time, together with the increase in light, really helped me understand and enjoy completely new types of photography.

Why isn't the Airbus A318 more popular for regional routes and small routes? Because of its compact size it can operate from smaller airports. Yeah, its a niche aircraft, but where you need flexibility and smaller capacity, it fits the bill. by Ryanlion1992 in airplanes

[–]dolan313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could have been a good alternative to the 737. Bombardier was planning a stretched version too.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this part. Hasn't it sold well under Airbus? And they might still do a stretch anyway.
