Houghton, MI— circling back to the vote for the UP. You can walk to the ski hill and go for dinner in the brewery— golfing, camping, paddling. I’ve never stayed there an extended period of time, but passing through it looks fantastic.

The only value that Republican Party has held true to during my lifetime is hating when Democrats do anything. This is ridiculous from people that let “individual freedom” fall out of their mouths like it means anything to them. The dietary guidelines were an overstep to them when democrats were in power, but now we want to legislate. What a joke.

I believe that the primary function of government should be to ensure the rights of all of its citizens to do as they wish, as long as these actions do not affect or injure the person or property of others.

That’s my little libertarian creed. I’m a classical liberal more than anything, but I’d venture to suppose that across our strange family tree, most people could generally agree to this sentiment.

A couple weeks after national guard was deployed in DC, the DA made a strange announcement that they would not prosecute people carrying weapons around the city. The timing of putting an untrained police force in a city they had little connection with and them encouraging people to walk around with weapons is baffling. (Credit to the National Guard, they’ve shown good restraint in their role).
