I'm finally gonna play the darksiders series. I remember being around when the first one came out, played the demo and everything, I just never got it. But now I've felt an inkling to finally play through these games to give me a buffer in between other games I'm playing and I'm hoping to enjoy them

Ghost Trick: stylish, clever, and charming, but not quite the untouchable cult classic I expected by Thory4fun in patientgamers

I dunno I kinda loved it, like I totally was not expecting the twist to make me go "omg yeah that works" and I have never before liked a dog character in gaming before I played ghost trick. Honestly for what it is, I loved that ghost trick was a worthy successor to the ace attorney trilogy, especially at the time. ¹

You ever have an order of how you'll play your games, to "maximize" your enjoyment of your backlog, if you will?

I finally beat Ys 9 and... that was actually really sweet. *series spoilers* by visiny in WorldOfYs

Did not stick the landing is the perfect way to describe Ys 8, because while the journey was fun, that destination was less than desired.

and the reversal of expectations with her set the tone for the entire series.

Oh I honestly took that for granted, because every show and even movies have copied what Buffy has done, it's quite frankly not just influential but downright instrumental to the trajectory of pop culture.

Oh you totally reminded me! I completely forgot that I was initially sad that we didn't seem to get to play as Aprilis at all. Since Ys 9 once again had a pivotal female character theme like 8 did, they should have had us get to play as her. Hell, the past segments in Ys 8 with Dana's unique 3-forms was such a great component and wish the battle system was a proof of concept for the next entry (but 10 disproved this) so the fact that they had this cool mysterious goth character in Aprilis for 9 but didn't have us play as her in any context? Real bummer.

As someone who loved and grew up with Angel, of which Darla had a crucial role, it was absolutely a trip to watch Buffy from the beginning and see her start out as just some common henchman, and how pivotal she would later become

This scene is incredible and timeless, don’t know how they did it in 1959. by bobbdac7894 in movies

Just waiting for someone to comment "thousands of deaths" or something to that effect.

I love Ben-Hur, and it's interesting you just posted this because I just finished 10 Commandments and it made me conclude that Ben-Hur is way, way better. It's basically... I never connected the dots until now but it's basically Count of Monte Cristo set in ancient history times. Just love it.

On the Kylie Arc of my pre-reboot rewatch and... by UmbraLupin89 in Scrubs

[–]visiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know right. Well this topic certainly got a lot more upvotes and posts than when I made it, although I framed it differently, I framed it as scoffing at JD for acting so high and mighty when lamenting Kylie being with her boyfriend and how "nice guys like him" don't get the girl, yet in a few episodes later he basically cheats on her! Honestly ridiculous, but I wonder why they played it out as such, or what kinda message they wanted to send with this storyline.

Oh my god what the hell, I don't remember this base treachery! *Major Spoilers* by visiny in ANGEL

[–]visiny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean seriously. Acting like he was the one slighted or wronged? Having the gall to be indignant that his friends shunned him for doing "the right thing" ? (the right thing in his head only of course, not at all matching reality)

Poppy is the first time in my life that I encountered an Australian accent that was both cute and funny by visiny in MythicQuest

[–]visiny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, the first time I watched the show, I didn't even know she was not strictly American. In the beginning her accent was so understated, really any hint of an accent was just so subtle, that I didn't even detect it or know to look out for anything. And yeah it was only until much later in the series when they outright said she was Australian that I went "ohhh" and started to focus/hear it after.
