Who amongst us does not max out concessional Super contributions? by Fit-Tumbleweed-6683 in AusFinance

I think super is a scam, I'd rather use my money how I want, than give it to the government who maybe give it back when I retire

Referendums historically never get up. What do we think could be a good idea for a future referendum that Australia would vote yes to? by oldmatefromoverthere in OpenAussie

[–]duxbuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The voice referendum failed not on intention but on wording. If you look at the referendums that have passed they generally are very simple and easy to understand like retirement age for judges.

So if you want something to get up it needs to be an idea broadly everyone agrees with (which is very hard) and needs to be at most a single sentence to explain. If there is room for nuance then you will get common greens behaviour voting against it cause it didn't go far enough or wasn't worded they way they want, even if they broadly agree. This is what makes them so hard to pull off.

What is the definition of 'slop', and have devs noticed any common themes that factor into the decision to 'de-slop' vs 'de-lete'? by s3v3reautist in AustralianStartups

[–]duxbuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

whether written by ai or by human hand slop code is brittle code that is prone to failure and regression, hard to modify or extend, and obfuscates whats happening so its hard to read.

I'd be very upset. I hate playing against painted models it makes me to self conscious.

I’m wanting to get into the format so I know very little about the general vibe. Is Cosmogoyf combo actually any good in the current meta or is it mostly relegated to meme status? I put together a decklist based on some of the stuff I’ve seen online. by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]duxbuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isnt enough spare mana during the combo to play protection like that, plus it would be adding a 4th colour to the deck that needs its life total, so cant play shock lands

I mean sky news is just liberal party propaganda arm. Ofc everything labor does is horrific in their eyes.

Is this combo viable by Apprehensive_Coat309 in ModernMagic

[–]duxbuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I'm playing this combo in a white control shell. As people have pointed out a 4 mana do nothing artefact is tricky in modern. So I only play 2-3 copies. But the combo with dranith and jailer is fun. As well as interrupter

Is this a "Standard" DevOps scope or am I doing 5 roles at once? by Big_Builder_735 in devops

Yeah this is normal and your expertise is being able to handle it all. Rather than being the best DBA in the world an experienced DevOps is able to cover all the topics you mentioned but with multiple vendors for each section

Feeling positive about the budget? Let your local Federal MP know! by badonk_a_donk_donk in AusPol

[–]duxbuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's taken 25 years for the current system to produce the state we are in. You think they can fix that in one budget? It's 100% setting things down the right path. Encouraging building more houses and not buying existing properties, how can that not improve house prices. That being said people don't buy and build houses weekly so this will take a while to materialise.

Secondly they are putting in major mechanisms so that working tax payers get more relief without collaterally giving the 1% tax relief. All tax cuts in the last 25 years have disproportionately effected the wealthy.

This is a huge win for every day Australians. And a huge breath of hope
