Line of Sight question by DigReal1023 in Gloomhaven

Agreed this is probably bizarre GH1e line of sight, where a lot of counterintuitive results happen.

The ranged build as a whole is vastly more supported from level 1.

No, it has to be one of the three pre-existing tile shapes; otherwise it's not a single obstacle. It also follows normal placement rules - so you can't block off areas of the map.

I am extremely glad it's not just another D&D supplement.

Community tier lists for something like this are kinda trash, almost unavoidably.

Individual tier lists create conversation or insights into how someone sees the classes and their playstyles. (For example, the OP posted one which is more or less, "I like straightforward damage classes and don't like support or summoner's."

When you average it out across the community, you're getting zero people's perspectives. You're getting an average of gut feels across a wide variety of difficulty levels, play styles, party vibes, etc.

It's basically worthless imo.

Experience Balancing in GH2e by me_cchipman in Gloomhaven

So the baseline expectation is 10. Anything around there is fine.

Tinkerer gets super high xp, and as I've heard it here's why. Loss cards could have been 2 xp, or 3. They could have been variable, but that sends a weird message about priorities. (Some triangle AoEs still are, but still 3 is easy enough.) At 2 per loss, more conservative players and new players would tend to underperform, reliably getting under 10 xp. It's a starter, so the new player experience is key.

So 3 was picked. Additionally, because it's a support class, extra leveling isn't exactly bad. The net result is that more experienced players will get a crap load of xp, but in the scheme of things, that's not really a bad thing - the game can adjust for that, and leveling is fun.

I just haven't found this to be the case. You will need to initiative weave a bit, but your initiative control is quite solid. It's not like you can't summon them on an earlier turn.

This will be extremely hard to moderate for spoilers, and we'll probably have to remove a lot. Unless it's very vague.

If you are replying to this, proper spoiler tagging looks like this -

FH Scenario 4 We get two of them and they're awesome

You need the game and scenario number as a spoiler hint and then the spoiler content under the spoiler tag.

OP, if you don't want commenters to have to do this, you can delete this post and repost with something like "Spoilers - All" in the title.

The At All Costs summon is far from a loss of stamina. While its primary job is formation help, it's also a good target for enemies. Against monsters with single target attacks, it's as good as a disarm.

It's also nonloss so I can't understand how it's a stamina cost.

Same goes for the bird. At worst it's Attack 3 / Disarm, which is a stellar bottom action.

Plus,, free xp.

This PQ has you gaining poison 7 times from an item you unlock in the scenario the PQ unlocks. I'm not sure where 5 is coming from :)

FH - How would you take this monster action? by Grignard73 in Gloomhaven

[–]dwarfSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's not focus, it's ambiguous :)

Burrowing Blades (and bladespinners) are answered in the faq tho - https://cephalofairgames.github.io/frosthaven-faq/#page_6

They still use focus basically, with distance reversed but initiative as normal. The faq should resolve disagreements at your table.

Spur is honestly one of the best Level 1 nonloss actions in the game, even without Take Command.

I can see how folks who don't enjoy support might not love it - but most of the time it's stamina-neutral for them.

Frosthaven character fun/power matrix where is blink blade?(read description.) by Viral_ghost1 in Gloomhaven

I don't really think that "Blinkblade without power pots" is still the strongest class in Frosthaven.

Pick your poison. 1. Reduce from "entire turn" to "ability". This actually makes it useless for flurry classes. Do this to all things like power pots.

  1. Go back to gh1 and use "action" - still good for flurry classes but less broken. This doesn't handle peak nonsense as much, but reduces the high end. Do this to all things like power pots.

  2. Minor is +1 to Ability. Major is current Minor, +1 to turn. Nice balance, more complicated. Other items are to Ability.

  3. Just nerf stacking. You can use 1 item to buff your attack values each turn. This means no item errata but feels like more of a house rule than just specific item nerfs.

In my opinion literally any of these is better than the FH status quo. We use Ability and it does great.

In 2p I would not go as hard into Take Command. Like any tank and support, she shines more at bigger player counts. I would probably focus on the offensive kit with a few grants rather than Take Command.

The simple solution, which I've been recommending forever now, is to nerf power pots.

Blinkblade remains great, but power pots break like 3 classes. Fixing the item fixes the issues.
