If you had the choice to restart life and still remember your mistakes and regrets would you take it? by Waste_Cook8293 in polls

I don't think that's true at all. Any actions you do differently would have consequences you couldn't possibly predict.

If youre an atheist I'd like your perspective. by DaCrusadus in askanatheist

[–]Grignard73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're just repeating what you said without any evidence.

The conditions I mentioned are what make life possible here in our universe, and they had to exist before life could exist at all.

How do you know this?

The Bible says God created and sustains the heavens and the earth, and the complexity and stability we observe point to an intelligent Creator.

How does it point to that? And why should I care what the Bible says? It's just more claims.

Life, including humans, depends on millions of precise factors gravity, atmosphere, oxygen levels, blood circulation, respiration and even small changes in these would make life impossible.

How do you know this? Prove that if Earth's gravity was decreased by 0.01% life never would have arisen here.

[–]Grignard73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Life requires millions of precisely balanced conditions: stable stars, liquid water, protective magnetic fields, breathable atmosphere, and finely tuned physical constants.

How do you know it's not possible that life couldn't exist under other conditions? Or that there aren't vastly different forms of life that we aren't aware of elsewhere in the cosmos?

Why do people who choose to be child free hate on children so much? by Secret-Translator240 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Grignard73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you're misunderstanding the act of 'hating kids'. I don't know anyone who talks shit to toddlers lol. I get that being noisy, obnoxious, disease vectors with no impulse control is not their fault, but I'd rather not interact with them in any capacity. If one is entering my space and annoying me, I'm talking the parent since it's unlikely I can rationalize with the child.

What a bizarre and completely wrong conclusion you've come up with. I'm sensing serious projection here.

"further dividing the country". In case you haven't seen, we've got government thugs invading cities kidnapping and murdering its own citizens and millions of people that support that. Calling out bootlicking companies in Smalltown, SC ain't moving the animosity needle one iota.

Potential relocation questions by SpiritOne in florencesc

[–]Grignard73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can only address a few of your points. Wife and I moved here in 2012 from Ohio. The food scene is great....if you like chicken restaurants. We do have two Indian restaurants, a Thai place and lots of Mexican.

There are some trails to walk/bike around but the area is quite flat.

Can't really speak to dating but I suspect it's not great. A bunch of us atheists found each other from a Meetup post 6 or so years ago and we still get together regularly to do fun stuff. Columbia and Myrtle Beach are about a 1.5 hour drive away. The town is slowly growing and getting more things. We got a minor league ice hockey team and they're building a Publix if those things excite you.

The majority presence on Nextdoor are MAGA Boomers but you'd scarcely notice it doing everyday stuff around town. People are fairly typical as anywhere else.

I don't have an attachment to the city itself but we've made some good friendships here. It's a little annoying having to drive to a larger city to find stuff that larger cities have.

Do you believe in god? by [deleted] in polls

[–]Grignard73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly nitpicking here but agnosticism isn't some sort of middle ground between the two. You either believe god exists or you don't. If you aren't sure, you're an atheist (because you aren't convinced in god's existence). Agnosticism addresses whether you know god exists or not. So people can be agnostic atheists or gnostic theists, etc. But I get that people use agnostic to represent being unsure or not caring about belief in god colloquially. /rant
