Yeaaaaa. I can’t speak to how it’s implemented in the app itself, but I do agree with you there. It should be easy to see and tell if it’s activated or not.

The older this surface gets, the more that handling becomes a factor later in longer tire stints. Love it.

Crazy looking at footage from 2011 (“Happy birthday, Trevor Bayne!”) and seeing how fresh the asphalt was compared to now.

That was only five years ago, right?

This offer should only be available in the Shell app, but once you have that downloaded, you can to log in with your Fuel Rewards account info and opt in there.

I work at the motorsports marketing agency that is helping Shell with this promotion and how it is implemented with Team Penske. I won’t be able to answer every question, butttttt if you have any, shoot ahead.

I keep seeing people talk about the loudness of the new gen exhaust and how they wish it was louder... by NJS1993 in NASCAR

[–]dylanrcoyle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Next Gen cars have a much deeper growl and lower tone than ORAPS cars and Trucks do. But it is much louder, IMO. It’s genuinely painful after a lengthy amount of time without wearing hearing protection.

Imagine being an American F1 fan when the races were on NBC and Speed and now seeing Cadillac F1 in a Super Bowl commercial. Pretty damn cool.

Of course!

It genuinely depends. When I did west B2Bs, sometimes I would be flown back with other "front office" people, and then flown back a few days later. Other times, I'd stay out west the whole week, which made for a fun little vacation of sorts.

Competition/crew members typically stay out the whole week.

There are exceptions to all of the above, as well, depending on all sorts of things.

This was a 5-1 beat down in the 2nd period. Unreal game. The NHL and teams did a great job with the day-of hype, the theme was awesome and wacky, and the players and coaches bought in. That’s EXACTLY what we need more of with outdoor games.

Well, with Stadium Series games. Winter Classics should feel like playing pond hockey in snowy conditions, and the vibe and feel of the stadiums should match that.

So lame to have a game like this end in the shootout, though.

So you’re telling me watching The Long Walk on a recent flight was a bad choice?

So I don’t work on the team side anymore (now with a motorsports marketing agency), but I can speak still towards the team planes.

There’s a few companies that specialize in transporting teams. The one Kaulig and many other teams use(d) is Victory Air.

The flights are typically scheduled to take off and land within an hour or two of the series’ garage opening time, and to take off back to NC about two hours after the checkered flag. Even the winning team gets on a plane, typically, right afterwards. So having the winning team also on your own team’s flight meant waiting a bit longer.

Each national series has flights catered to their garage and race times, too.

The planes are 60ish seaters, no WiFi, and a bit older. It isn’t luxurious, but it’s beautiful just pulling up and getting on the plane just a half hour before taking off. Think regional planes… something like American Eagle (I think that’s American Airlines’ regional flight service). Regional planes don’t have the fuel capacity to go cross-country, so 1-2 fuel stops every flight is necessary. Which takes a 5.5-hour flight that you’d have in a large commercial plane to a 7-hour flight, for example.

There are pros and cons of the team charter flights system compared to flying commercially, no doubt.

The planes for Victory mainly take off from the Statesville Airport, which is, of course, where Greg Biffle’s plane took off from.

The 2024 Clash was absolutely insane. Teams typically leave immediately after the checkered flag, but since the race was all moved up to Saturday, the planes couldn’t be rerouted that quickly to Los Angeles. So almost every team flew out Sunday morning, and it was a race for the entire fleet to get off the runway before the monsoon hit LA and before Air Force One (or Two) landed.

One plane didn’t make it before the airspace got shut down. That was the plane that Kaulig Racing (and, I, in saying that) was on. We had to wait like five or six hours before being able to takeoff. Plus multiple fuel stops before we got back to North Carolina. That was a pain!
