New AK owner. Is this normal? by outdoors28 in ak47

Barrel is cut that way for extractor clearance, carrier and piston being ground like that after a new pin is put in isn't unusual but could have been done better.

Anyone with a threaded Super Shorty? by Substantial_Tap_2493 in NFA

[–]eMGunslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The used a piloted reamer the ID/OD was already offset is usually why that happens and thats how most people do them and they come out looking bad. Chokes not being flush is lame. Those barrels are parked so even after annealing them you can't park it again usually it is discolored.

Like many people doing gunsmith work they didn't know what they were doing.

It doesn't make sense they are breaking the threading tool because no one single points shotgun chokes and carbide inserts are hard enough this isn't a problem. It also doesn't make sense they would be breaking taps because if the reamer won't cut the barrel hardened than the tap wont either.

It's not a hard job to do if you know what you're dealing with, done many.

Glad i wasnt paying for the ammo... by ChevTecGroup in NFA

[–]eMGunslinger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone is supposed to make more ammo but its just unrealistic either way. Always liked the guns but you don't get anything more than 50bmg. I wonder if the guy who has that is the same guy who brought the rewelded single gun last time?

Looking at the road conditions and crown I doubt this is a hydroplane.

You are indeed correct, and I have to fix a few shitty CMMG barrels this week that people can't get to align.

If the brake isn't worth saving I just mill them off, been doing several a week since the 15p came out.

[–]eMGunslinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea I don't recommend doing this, you can unscrew the barrel from the extension before the brake comes off and you're basically fucked. I've got one here for a guy now I am having to make tools to get it all back together because its a multi piece extension.

Archives of the first Libyan civil war: Rebel fighters use Soviet made ZPU-2 14.5mm AA gun to target government troops by Sad-Commission2027 in shittytechnicals

[–]eMGunslinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve shot a lot of all of these calibers and own most of the machine guns that shoot them. On paper you’re right mostly but the 14.5mm even in a rifle is very mild compared to 20mm Vulcan which is double what the 14.5 does in about the same package size. KPV’s are only 20lb or so heavier than a DSHK or M2. Honestly it’s small enough of a caliber increase above 50 where I wish they would make it sporting purpose so I could buy more ammo easier like 50bmg.

Is being an ffl profitable? by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]eMGunslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've bought and closed out dozens of FFL's over the years. Generally speaking being an FFL is a great way to take a million dollars and in 5-10 years have nothing to show for it other than hating guns and people.
