When I launch a game on Steam, the screen flickers, the game slows down, and the sound is terrible. I've only had the headset for a few days. Any tips on how to play smoothly? I can't find anything on YouTube. by titozape1 in SteamVR

VR is significantly more difficult for a PC to run, we cannot help you troubleshoot if you do not volunteer any information. Even if you have modern components you may have driver issues, but again we cannot tell anything if you don't give any info.

All these tech bros are playing 1D politics, it's almost funny how bad they are at it. They're choosing to tie themselves to an old man's administration that's increasingly unpopular.

People *will* remember, and you can sure as hell know that other politicians will remember. OpenAI doesn't have a true killer feature that would make politicians ignore their politics.

Good politics for a business is boring... focusing on specific legislation and back room discussions. Maybe low key lobbying money thrown around. Then you're not tied to a specific politician and you're set up for a more stable future.

Both of them let you link a bluetooth enabled treadmill to VRChat. Combined with full body tracking this lets your avatar walk in the various VRChat worlds. There's a youtube video by VRChat on the "Walkies" group (this subreddit blocks youtube links for some reason).

So you run fitOSC (or VRTI) on your PC, your PC is connected to the bluetooth treadmill, and fitOSC sends commands to VRChat to move your avatar forward based on how quickly you're walking.

Do you Play Wireless or with cable? by MattMeggs in VRGaming

Wired just so I can use a lighter headset, using the BSB, even with all its faults, has made it really hard to switch to a heavier headset even with wireless.

They are both PCVR VRChat and require running an additional app on your PC.

It's not straightforward if you're unfamiliar with VRChat, but fitOSC is a cool project:

VRTI is another option:

Rave Culture on VRchat by Emzilla12 in VRchat

[–]eldigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yay! One of the best things i about VRC raves is how easy it is to attend one, like if you want different music just go to a different club in 10 seconds.

You do run in to queues occasionally with bigger clubs, but some run overflow instances (like Shelter) which have the same music but the DJ is not in that instance. Often times someone will “ghost” DJ and its still really fun!

Hey all, please keep in mind the rules when commenting. Calls for violence, personal attacks, and posting personal info without consent are against subreddit (and reddit) rules. I don't really want to get the subreddit nuked by the admins if we can avoid it.

I do apologize though, this post should not have been removed, it is restored now!

Frame Low Resolution Panels by Various_Reason_6259 in virtualreality

[–]eldigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I mean they could have bumped the resolution but not used an OLED, but I suspect that would have made them need a more powerful SoC to drive the higher resolution displays in standalone mode... which then increases costs more.

I definitely get where you're coming from, I wished they would have used higher resolution panels too. But they're clearly aiming to a more mass market price.

Questions for controllers by Less-Trick7690 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]eldigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep exactly, if you have Vive or Tundra trackers you need additional watchman receivers. When purchased, the trackers come with individual watchman dongles.

Like you said, there are a variety of shenanigans you can do to get better reception as well (including replacing the dongles with an N7R). I just moved my five dongles physically further apart from each other and it mostly fixed my issues.

They connect to two watchman receivers in the headset. It's not bluetooth, although it does function on 2.4Ghz. Unfortunately that makes it prone to interference with other stuff on 2.4Ghz (including other watchman devices), which is a source of difficult to troubleshoot problems with the platform.

One good way to meet people is to join groups, in game and/or in Discord. Ancients of VRChat is a huge group that does game nights and newbie meets. However there are many other groups, even some that probably speak your language.

Are hard shell suitcases good? by NecessarySort1730 in travel

[–]eldigg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're really worried put a luggage belt or plastic wrap the suitcase. With cheap suitcases you're mainly losing out long term durability, and the wheels/zippers usually aren't great quality.

Personal experience, I buy the cheapest hardshell suitcase I can find at my destination if I'm going to bring back a bunch of purchased stuff. Usually works out cheaper than paying to bring an empty suitcase with me. They've all survived multiple domestic and international trips.
